Fearful buyers - what is the source of your fear?

I'm fearful about buying now because of the falling prices in the south, missing out on better prices down the road, or buying somewhere that may be difficult to re-sell if needs be without suffering a loss.
I'm interested to know what the source of other fearful buyers' fear is? Perhaps Brexit predictions? Or keeping up mortgage repayments in a recession?

Well its the exact opposite of a bull market where people are keen to buy asap for the fear of missing out on rising prices.
A bear market now where some people hold off for fear of paying too much and missing out on better opportunities.
Of course the UK housing market is much more complicated however. A good % of sales are Death, Divorce & Debt related - so these will happen anyway. Add in, very cheap mortgage rates. a dollop of general economic/brexit uncertainty along with the fact that a lot of the market is underpinned by a monstrous ponzi scheme in the form of H2B, then it is a very complicated picture.
Frankly I have bought houses to live in for 5 years+, so really have never given a monkeys about prices - as long as not in risk of being underwater and not able to move.0 -
I'm not fearful of buying again I just can't be bothered with unrealistic selling prices (in my opinion). It seems people see their properties as never ending money trees. I've been through a recession and lost a lot of money on a house as it coincided with a marriage break up.
I don't trust estate agents building up vendors' hopes.
Perhaps cynical but bricks and mortar are just that.

Going through the whole damn buying and selling process again. Took me seven months last time.
I like my current house very much but have had the itch every now and again to move one more time. Then the memories of the last time come flooding back! I wouldn't need a mortgage and Brexit doesn't bother me at all about housing.
I could afford to upsize a bit price wise and would stay in the same town so no real pressures there.0 -
Oh no, not a bloody gain ...yawn0

I'm interested to know the particular reasons why other fearful buyers are frightened at the moment. It's a perfectly valid line of enquiry to other fearful buyers, and one that does not seem to have been asked on moneysavingexpert.comThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. There is always the existential terror of am I doing the right thing for an FTB - for whom the perfectly mundane circuits & bumps are new exotic & terrifyingly novel.
For the rest of us, battle scarred veterans of done it once, How Hard can it be, the additional hazards of right time, place, deal etc add to the angstability - but if you want your own roof over your head, some things you just have to cope with.0 -
First you wanted opinions of "cash buyers" now you want the opinions of "fearful buyers".....how about non-cash buyers?0

It's healthy for buyers to share any worries they may have. Another of my fears is new property ownership taxes that either political party could bring in, such as a Land Value Tax.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
