Maiden Name Married Name
Hi all. My wife has recently remortgaged her BTL to a new lender, no additional borrowing, just to reduce the rate and she put it in her married name. All of her other accounts, including our joint mortgage, are still in her maiden name. She has recently tried to do a new balance transfer card in her married name but has…

Unknown Soft Search
Checking my report via my bank account, I noticed there was a soft search against my name. It is from Bet Fred based in Gibraltar. I have never opened or tried to open an online betting account. What is also concerning is that it had the wrong gender in my title - Mr instead of Mrs. I know soft searches do not affect my…

Remove arrangement to pay marker from credit file?
Years ago my debt situation was very bad. Multiple CCJs, defaults, late payments, payday loans, etc. Bar one default and a series of late payments which will come off in October, I only have one negative marker left - an arrangement to pay with my bank from May-August 2023. Basically what happened was, as I was paying down…

Not using available credit
Hi all. My credit file says I'm "not using the credit available" and that's negatively effecting my credit. I have three credit cards I use and pay off in full every month. The only thing I can think of is a overdraft that I don't use. Could having an overdraft and not using it negatively effect my credit rating?

One accidental missed payment halved credit rating
My wife has had no missed payments or anything else to damage her credit rating for decades. But following some confusion over who was continuing to pay Octopus for her late mother's account, and therefore one accidentally missed payment, the TransUnion credit agency halved her rating. The other two agencies did not. This…

I have been struggling for months…

Link bank accounts to Clearscore?
I've been using Clearscore to track my credit rating but I'm curious if I should link my two bank accounts to it? I'm wondering if there are any reasons not to? Does it give you access to better deals when it comes to loans assuming you are not in debt at the time?
