Default dates on credit report being changed right before they’re due to drop off?
I have two accounts that I defaulted on just over 6 years ago. This has now happened with both of them:
Just after the date the default was due to "drop off" of my credit report (6 years), they have updated it to a random date a few years later, meaning it's back on my credit report.
I've raised disputes for both of them with TransUnion and directly but neither have been resolved yet.
The fact it's happened with both of them is making me think this is the norm or some part of the process!
Does anyone know why this might have happened?

The credit reference agency’s are totally useless in this situation. Under GDPR you should be able to get incorrect data removed.

Find out who added them back, sometimes debt collectors do this with a false date. Threaten the CRA with the ICO if they don't remove a 6 year defaultdebtiedowner said:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Do you have screen shots of the previous entries showing original default dates?
Which company is reporting this to your credit file, as the CRA will not be able to change information given to them, you have to speak to the organ grinder, not the monkey.
Have the debts been recently sold, so a new creditor is now reporting on these?
There is no other reason why the original information should have changed.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Yes and emails and letters with the default dates. I have all the evidence to dispute it just wondering why it’s happened with both just as they’re due to drop off. And whether at some point in the future they can just randomly update it again so it’s back on my report.sourcrates said:Do you have screen shots of the previous entries showing original default dates?

I’m not sure, I assume the original creditors as it’s in their names but they’ve both been sold on years ago.

Its anyone's guess why and how actually, this can happen, but it does on occasion.
You need to complain to the company recording the incorrect default dates, as well as each major CRA.
Follow the correct complaints process, then they can`t ignore you, you have the option of escalation to the ICO/FOS if not satisfied with the outcome.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
