The 'credit report insights' tool gives a list of things I'm doing well, and list of things I could improve upon. So far, so sensible.

However! Of the three things I need to work on two are:
  • You aren't using the credit available to you
  • You're using a lot of the credit available to you
Surely it should be one or the other? If I fix one, then I will make the other worse.

Guess - you are close to max on one credit card and little use on another?

Yes, that would be the correct scenario - one card close to being paid off because it was all moved onto a 0% rate.

If that's the reason for the two statements, then it would seem each statement is based on a per account assessment rather than an overall picture.

No disrespect to the mighty MSE, but I doubt if vast amounts of AI computing power have been expended in performing this analysis.

I get similar, I've got a 0% balance transfer card that maxed out (because that's what it's for) and other "normal" cards at 0-20% utilisation.

Fair enough! I'm well aware I over analyse things so I'll let this one slide ☺️
