Minimum payment by store credit?
I've noticed, to my horror, that I'd missed the deadline for the minimum payment on my Sainsbury's cc. I know that, technically, I could have curtailed my interest-free term that still has 6 months to run. However, since my last statement, I have received 2 store credits for goods returned, that are way over the minimum…

Use 2 credit cards or 1?
I'm a student, so obviously debt is a big issue. In order to help myself out a bit, i tend to put as much of my expenditure as possible onto a credit card, leaving the cash to cover it in savings until it's time to pay the balance in full. Until recently I have used my Egg card to spend on, despite having a Barclaycard as…

Wages paid into Egg Money and DD's taken out
Wages paid into Egg Money and DD's taken out, possible? Is this possible? I want one card that does everything, can paid wages into and have direct debits out, credit card, purchase protection, worldwide acceptance etc... The closest I've found is a Visa debit card with an arranged overdraft but isn't exactly the same.

Old TSB Trustcard query
Having a reshuffle and I intend to close my old TSB Trustcard that I never use. I only held onto it for sentimental reasons as it was the first card I got accepted for. Anyway, I still have 1200 points on my account and wondered if I can still use them beneficially before I close the account, or if this scheme…

Credit Card Spies
I didn't know whether to put this post in the computer section or here. Anyway here it is. I'm thinking of applying for the Nat West card sometime in the future so I went to their site and clicked on apply to see what would happen. My spy protection programs immediatley killed the connection because of an attempt to…

Rope in the Missus???
Hi All Is it normal practise when you've exhausted the best 0% cards, to get your wife involved? Do credit card companies regard her finances as a completely separate entity, and therefore willing to offer her the same 0% cards that her husband (me) has had? Thanks Pat ___

BarclayCard Interest Rate
I was surpirsed to receive a BarclayCard throught the post this morning. It's a BarclayCard Initial and the limit is £2000 with a 25.9% rate. What I'd like to know is, does the rate come down after you've been using the card for a bit? Or do you have to switch cards?

Nationwide - Weird and annoying policies
I had a balance on my Nationwide Credit Card of £1.5k that I payed off via an online bank transfer last week. I went to use my card 6 days later to get a small cash advance, not the best money saving plan but I couldn't find my cash card and for £1.50 I wasn't spending ages searching when other events were awaiting, card…

Barclaycard credit limit
Hi there I took up Martin's advice from last week's email and applied for the new Platinum Barclaycard mainly for TB purposes. I received it yesterday and to my utter dismay they have given me a credit limit of only £250. I can't see the point of using it all at now. It doesn't seem the worth the damage caused to my credit…

Paying off secured loan with credit card
Before I became a "money saving expert" hubby and I were bamboozled into a secured loan with First National. I've asked for a settlement figure - it will probably be around £2700. I think the best thing to do would be to see if I could whack it on a 0% c/c - I currently have enough credit to do this on my Virgin 0% -…

Beware LloydsTSB trying it on?
Hi, thought you might wish to note this. Following the info on this site, back in Feb 05 I obtained a LTSB CC at 0% APR for Balance Transfers for 12months. Low and behold, I noticed last month, on my statement that LTSB were now saying the special introductory rate applying to my Bal Trans was due to expire in August…

How long...
...in your experience, does it take, from getting off the phone or sending off the application form, before you have the card in your hand or the Balance Transfer in your current account. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 weeks? Are some providers better/speedier than others? Magic

Premium Bonds on credit
I read an article in one of the weekend papers about buying Premium Bonds using credit cards offering the 0% deal then repaying before incurring any interest. As you can only buy them with cash or debit card, can anyone explain to a novice moneysaver how this one works please?
