Unsure if I should increase credit limit
The bits I think are important: - Hoping to get a mortgage at some point this year (though it looks like most places are above my comfortable price so unsure if this really will happen) - Monzo are offering me an increased Flex limit of £3550 (with a deadline of 27 June) so it's not like I'm asking for more credit? Current…

Transferring Zable to barclaycard
Hi. I just got a new Barclaycard transfer balances from Zable and Vanquis. I’ve done the Vanquis one but the person on the phone said they do not accept transfer from Zable that was the main reason really as the interest is so high. Is there any way around this? Or just need to focus on making larger payments I noticed…

Asda Money/Jaja finance and/or fraud check advice?
Has anyone had any fraud issues with this provider? I've had an Asda Money credit card for just under a year. All going fine until a couple of weeks ago when it was declined. I assumed it might have been something to do with paying using my phone and not having the card on me but when I tried another day using the card it…

Using credit card to buy used car (and pay back using savings)
We have a bit of money set aside for our children, but need to buy a car now. We could pay cash for one, but my idea was to get a 0% credit card to buy the car, so we keep earning interest on the savings. The trouble is, we've never had a credit card before (aged 50) and all Tesco would lend us was <£5k. This is a bit…

Very basic credit card terminology question
Hi all, I am new here and really struggle with understanding financial terminology, so would appreciate some 'credit cards for dummies' help if possible! I am applying for my first ever credit card and they are asking if I want the repayment amount to be either A. a minimum amount, B. the full amount, or C. a fixed amount.…

Help! Chargeback issue with Lloyds
Hello everyone! I purchased a beauty lamp on eBay in February using my credit card. Around 2 months later it had stopped working. I contacted the company through eBay and was asked to send videos etc of it not working which I did, I was then totally ignored. I contacted Lloyds to discuss a chargeback, the said I needed to…

HSBC balance transfer offer query
Hi, i was wondering if anyone has experience with HSBC's balance transfer offers. They have offered me a 12 month interest free offer that expires at the end of the month and although i could use it, it would be more beneficial next month. However i don't know if the offer will renew or change or what? Also when they made…

I'm clearly not 'getting' the Barclaycard fees abroad thing.
So I Googled & was under the impression the Barclaycard card didn't charge you anything (so long as you paid off in full). There was another site I was reading but I'll link the MSE site to the…

Monzo Flex Card
I opened this when i opened a new Monzo account to compliment the starling and Halifax clarity card for usage abroad as it doesn't load onto the Mastercard wholesale rate unlike the clarity card However paying it seems such a faff! I dont understand why i cant pay it by DD or manual bank transfer from my building society…

Allocation of payments on 0%
Can anyone advise me from their own experience how NatWest and Lloyds allocate payments where you have two (or more) 0% balances with differing expiry dates? I have existing 0% balances on these cards, with further 0% offers, but the T&Cs only state payments are allocated to balances in order of percentage, but with no…

Expensive travel card!
Following an MSE recommendation I got a Halifax Clarity credit card for travelling to the USA. Big mistake. When I tried to use it they insisted on validating the purchase by sending me a code number to input. But I don't have a US roaming deal - £6 a day is too expensive and I use WhatsApp instead. But Halifax don't.…

Do I still need to report a transaction that failed to clear pending?
Yesterday an Amazon purchase that definitely wasn't me showed up as pending. This morning all pending transactions have processed and it is gone. The card is frozen for now but is it worth reporting and replacing the card or are there ways this can happen by mistake?

Zilch rewards
I use Zilch (mainly the Pay Now to get the rewards). I built up my rewards to just over £180 and used this to pay towards some internal doors (with the rest being paid over 6 weeks). When the doors were delivered they were the wrong size so I sent them back to Wickes for a refund. As they were delivered by 2 different…

"Interest on cash" appearing on credit card
Hi, wonder if anyone knows the answer to this. Each payday in the run up to Christmas I purchase gift vouchers online for Christmas gifts from Voucher Store. I have used an ASDA Visa card, my Sainsburys Mastercard and Creation Everyday Mastercard since September. The Creation card is charging me each month "interest on…

When is a department store not a department store (Santander 123 credit card)
I still have a Santander 123 credit card and to be fair I get enough cashback on it to more than cover the costs already so can't complain (1% supermarket, 2% department stores, 3% fuel). Checking recent statements I see I must have been spending around £20 a month in department stores as I get 40p cashback from the…

MBNA credit card now okay for foreign transactions?
I noticed this statement in the updated T&Cs for MBNA credit cards: We’ve changed the name of the “non-sterling transaction fee” to “non-sterling purchase fee”, and we’ll no longer charge this when you use your card for cash transactions in a foreign currency. A cash transaction fee may still apply. It seems as though the…
