Funeral expenses help
My friend claims UC because of ill health. Her widowed mother has just died. Her sister who has a well paid job is more or less estranged from the family and would be unlikely to help with funeral costs. The question is whether my friend could claim help with funeral costs?

Since UC migration £400 down a month and no idea why!
Both myself and my husband are disabled and unable to work. He was already getting ESA before we had to migrate to universal credit and once I started receiving pip his ESA went up to around 500 every two weeks but since we changed over the extra money disappeared. I have tried asking on my journal several times but can't…

Am I really entitled to so little support?
I will find out on Wednesday if I am up for redundancy, followed by a 30 day consultation. I work in the charity sector and won't be offered anything above stat redundancy pay by my employer. I have worked there for 3 years, so entitled to £2100 stat redundancy pay. I've checked my benefits entitlement and it is not good.…

Urgent please - Are Entitled-to and Turn2us reliable please ?
Hi, I've posted a similar query already but in the wrong place, sorry, so I'm asking it again here (much simplified..) My query is, please, Can I trust Entitled-to ? And can I trust Turn2us ? They are both recommended by the government so I would hope so. But I don't want to make any mistakes or it'd maybe wreck my…

Migration To Universal Credit If state Pension is near
Does anybody know if, they'll leave people alone if they're due to retire soon. So it seems pointless to ask those people to migrate over only for them to be eligible for state pension within a short time. I know they left so many on Incapacity Benefit for several years rather than moving them to ESA exactly for that…

Attendance Allowance and LPA
Hi all, Reposting here at the suggestion of another user. I did do a search on here but can't quite find the answer I'm looking for. I am about to start an application for my mum to get attendance allowance. On the website it says if you have LPA (which I am indeed registered as having) then the paper copy should be…

UC migration- 2 week run on payment
I received my migration notice to migrate from IR ESA (wrag) to UC which I completed on 26th March 2025. I just wanted to know if I will be receiving the 2 week run on payment? I did receive a payment on 5th April but was this because esa is paid in arrears? TIA

New style ESA -Bank statements
If new-style ESA is not affected by savings, will the DWP request bank statements at any point? I’ve seen people on UC being asked to provide statements, I’m wondering if this is the case for new-style ESA. Thanks

Council TAX benefits reduction
My local council ( Bromley ) will not respond to my question, about a 75% increase in my council tax liability. Their website does explain, that for 2025-2026, EVERYONE will now have to pay a minimum of 50%, of their liability. In previous years they would apply a discount to liability, for those that qualified, due to…

Marriage allowance claim refused because of wrong form
Hi, my husband submitted a marriage allowance claim for several previous years, using the HMRC form MATCF provided online. Today, he received a letter saying his claim has been refused because he had used 'an old form'. We double-checked and he used the 10/23 version which is the only form available via the HMRC webpages.…

Dear MSE, My father recently died, after which we discovered he had a large amount of money across three accounts, which we had no idea of. Following the probate process, we distributed funds as requested in his will. We have now been sent a letter from the DWP who wish to investigate because he was in receipt of pension…

Inheritance on Benefits. Stressful and depressing.
My wife is disabled (Lifelong disability) We've been on and off benefits all our lives as her condition goes through good and bad periods, but I think, sadly, now its gone past the point that I'll ever return to work, or more to the point, be able to leave her alone while I work. Marriage Allowance postal deadline
Hi, I tried to claim for the past years marriage allowance today, from 2020/21, on the Government Gateway, but I receive a message saying I have to apply via post using a form. Is there a deadline for this method, would the form have to be with them by the 5th of April (tomorrow)? Thanks.
