You don't need to cancel child benefit to claim UC, if you could explain why you think you do it might make more sense. Is this for a college leaver?pope said:When applying for UC do you cancel child benefit before applying or after first payment?

When doing the UC application it asks about other people living in the house. Does this have to be provided as there going to be no housing costs as living with parents?poppy12345 said:

I think it means other people in the household. The parents are not part of the household. Someone else will know if this is correct.1

You do not need to provide information about them, they are not part of his claim.pope said:

Once you have access to the journal you can then put a message on that to tell them they have an appointee. If the appointee is responsible for their other benefits they should already know this anyway.2
