Months after applying, I still didn't get any JSA payment - how to check status?

After +20 years of almost continuous employment, including 3 years in my previous role, I was made redundant.
I applied for JSA on 20-Oct. Got some emails about "we started processing your application".
50 days now and I have no update from them, nor any payment from them in my account.
It's my first time ever asking for anything and, to be honest, I feel let down.
Also, I feel sympathy to all the hard working people who need a little help to pay for train rides and professional clothing to go to interviews - but experience what seems like absolute neglect...
They sure don't drag their feet like that when getting our tax money

Suggest you call 0800 169 0190 and make a complaint, asking for an urgent phone call back from the JSA new claims Service Centre.
There have been delays to JSA claims due to volume of claims being received, but all claims from October 2025 should have had Job Centre appointments and be in payment. At the moment it appears to be claims on or around 20th November that are having Job Centre appointments.
As yours goes back to October, appears your claim has not gone through correctly for some reason. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
My mate had a similar experience recently. He made his claim on 6th October and immediately received a text confirming submission. The next day he got another message saying his claim was being processed.Around 16 days later, he received a further text with details about attending the Jobcentre. He went to the appointment, agreed to the “claim commitment,” and then attended his first fortnightly meeting — but by 24th November he still hadn’t received any payments. He called the number that’s been suggested and explained that he had attended the Jobcentre. They told him that his claim still hadn’t been fully processed, which meant no payments had been issued yet. The adviser said they would email the "Processing Team" to look into it and request a same-day payment.Later that day, he received a payment of roughly £475.
As suggested, ring that number and see if your claim has been processed and ask for a same-day payment.I have a tendency to mute most posts so if your expecting me to respond you might be waiting along time!0
