Need help for young daughter who is going mad trying to sort an electric supplier in her rental flat
My daughter took on a rental flat in Cardiff back in mid May. Ever since she has been trying to find out who her supplier is. After several calls to SSE who said they were not her supplier have now acknowledged they are her supplier but said they were supplying a business and now that it is residential they will no longer…

Problem with Eon
For 6 months we have had a problem with our electricity meter as it is not recording our usage. Eon fitted another meter but that is not recording either. They now say that they will have to fit a smart meter instead. So how are we going to know how much electricity we have used in the last 6 months. I am worried that we…

Up coming Electricity discount
Hi. I live in an annex joined on to the main house. I have my own front and back doors and pay a council tax on the annex because it is classed as a separate building. My gas and electricity is run off of the main houses’ supply. I have my own gas and electric metre which tells me how much I have to pay the main house…

Energy price rise
I currently pay £199/month for gas & electricity to British Gas (I’ve never missed a payment). They did a 6 month review of my usage and payments on 1st July, and despite me being £216 in credit and using much less energy over the same 6 month period in 2021, they’ve upped my direct debit to £323/month from 1st August. Are…

180L Immersion Tank Heating
I have an 180L Immersion tank running off gas. Currently running 4am - 5am & 4pm - 5pm. This cost quite a bit so I've reduced it down to 30min at a time. My question is how long does it take to heat up this tank and would 30min morning and afternoon provide me enough hot water for the day?

Final Bill
How can I access my final statement from Peoples’s Energy? The link from the email I received from them does not work, it says, the server cannot be found. We normally pay £150 by direct debit to British Gas. In August they have taken £880, more than my monthly salary, and are saying we still owe them £400. They started…

Help with costs when working from home
Hi - so, husband has been working from home since lockdown started. He’d like to go back to working in his office (1 mile away) but has been told he is not allowed to (the company own the building and it cannot be sold as it’s a telephone exchange!) However, he can go to work in Birmingham (approx 140 miles away!) Because…

Energy quote after moving
I have recently moved home and was paying no more than £150 a month on my gas and electric, prior to moving I contacted the supplier of the new property and was quoted more than £600 a month on a fixed term, after moving I was then quoted over £700 a month for a fixed term deal. I haven't signed up to a deal and am going…

Energy suppliers and the £400 grant
Are they basing their direct debit amounts for new fixes Inclusive of the monthly grant or are they ignoring it, in which case winter monthly DDs should be £30+ lower?

No standing charge?
Given that Ofgem have tried (and failed) to “simplify”
tariffs, do you see a case to bring back zero standing charge tariffs, where
the supplier recovers their costs purely from the energy sold? This could keep
the price down for low users and make high users contribute more, incentivising
the need to reduce usage.
