Disks error pn laptop

Will 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM work in DDR3 PC3-12800 laptop?
I have bought a new HP 255 with 4GB of memory. I wish to upgrade this by adding a single 8GB stick of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM. Then with the removed 4GB, adding it to my old HP 655 laptop that runs DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V. Before I go ahead and buy some memory, will this work??
