Very slow Broadband speed

Options
I am with BT Broadband.

Up to last Friday I was getting speeds up to 6.5-7mbs then on Friday it went right down to 0.13 by what I now believe is to do with some type of BT network problem.

On Saturday I phoned BT and said although recovered a bit I was now getting 4.8 so they reprofiled the line nothing changed then yesterday I did a speed check and again got 4.8 with a line profile of 5..

I phoned them again and they reprofiled again (although they now say only refreshing) and now get 3.8 with a line profile of 4.

I phoned again last night to say they were obviously reprofiling the wrong way so can they do it again – they said it is correctly aligned and shows no faults so it’s ok and won’t do anything more.

It obviously isn’t as it is about half my speed of last week.

What should I do now?

You need to give it a few days to 'retrain' to the best speed if the connection was down. Give it another week. It may of course be that in the course of the repair you've been switched onto a line that doesn't not support the same speed.

reprofiling the line or the DLM will not involve changing the physical line - this will only be done if a hard fault is found.... best bet would have been to see the line stats before & after the issue which we've missed the boat on. However, yes DLM will need a few days to restabilise itself, if after a week it's still the same go back to them..

but the IP profile will rise as & when the DLM drops your snrm down towards target of 6dB - can you log in to your router's interface and post your line stats?

Try the router in the BT master socket (remove the face plate), if this doesn't improve things, then there is an issue outside your property and BT have to come out and fix it (although they'll threaten to charge £150 if the problem is on your side of the master socket).

It is in the test socket of the master socket

check your router's documentation - it'll give you a web address, usually something like 192.168.1.1 which should be the login page. The docs should also give you the login details, and then you need to find the broadband information...all router interfaces are different, hence why I said check the documentation for your model.
