Redundancy after administration
My father-in-law has just been laid off in a shabby way, but the company he works for went into administration at the beginning of December. He continued to work for the same people but in the new "Phoenix" company. Would he automatically have tupe rights or does he have no employment protection? Any guidance would be…

Re-structure - Updated
The place where I work is 're-structuring' and my job is at risk of redundancy. Basically, we all have to re-apply for our jobs. They are more or less the same with a few differences so that they can say they are different jobs. Well, I have applied for my job as I cannot afford to lose it but if we are not successful we…

Will iprotect insure me for unemployment?
Hi, after a bit of research I have decided to get the Lifestyle Insurance (ASU) from www.iprotectinsurance.com. It basically covers Accident, Sickness & Involuntary Unemployment. To be honest I only want the unemployment option but they don't just cover that only one. I have been with my employer for 4 years and 9 months.…

Ok there are a couple of similar threads on this, but rather then jump in on someone elses thread I thought it better to start my own. A colleague of mine (civil service) has applied for voluntary redundancy and expects to leave on 31st March 2011 He expects a payout of around 21 months pay (£78,750.00) and 3 months pay in…

In which situation would we be better off?
Both my partner and I are facing redundancy (both identified as 'at risk'; my partner likely to lose his job in April, myself in November) Neither of us have ever been unemployed and hence don't understand any potential benefits we may be entitled to. We recently moved into rented accomodation and are in process of selling…

Voluntary Redundancy - Full Time or Part Time Salary.
I have recently accepted Voluntary Redundancy from my employer (Government Sector) however I have been told I should be entitled to more money than they have offered. I have been employed by this organisation for 16 years. 13 years of this employment was full time. I then left to have a baby in May 2007 and received SMP at…

Redundant again for the 8th time!
Hi, I work in IT and I have just been made redundant for the 8th time! Seven times since year 2000! I am really down.... Whenever I join a company and the chips turn down it's always the last in and first out. I have never once taken voluntary redundancy. What is wrong with this country that they always want to make people…

Pay back redundancy money if I return to work?
Hi I took redundancy on 23rd December and was paid £760 redundancy payment. I have now been offered an alternative role within the company (at a lower salary). My question is - do I need to repay the redundancy money? This will make the difference between making the new salary being manageable or not. Thanks Alex

Hi all I got made redundant a couple of weeks ago. I was given my notice pay which is 5 weeks. In the last meeting I had I was told I was being made redundant from that day. Redeployment, redundancy and the future...
Hi all, I am really here looking for advice and a place to tell my story where there is less emotion (family and friends won't necessarily tell me how it is, and are probably fed up anyway!) The last year has been somewhat hectic, having been in a 'secure' permanent job for four years, the post was cut due to in year…
