To cut a long storey short, hubby was made redundant on Xmas eve, no notice given, no rights as was only with them a few months. Unable to clain job seekers, reason given becasue he's been self employed in last 3 years! tried to clain on 2 other occasions last year when he was also made redundant and given different reasons as to why couldn't get anything including the amount I earn! May get council tax benefit but not entitled to anything else. I'm on a DMP myself, no money to pay bills next month. Got 3 weeks to get something sorted and I'm just tempted to sell the house and give up.
My wages 1200.00
outgoings 1600.00
this includes all bills and dd's not taking into account food, petrol, anything to live off.
last time thid happend we got by for a month by cancelling DD's and founf hubby to be working again a few weeks later so just called them and set everything back up.
never missed a mortgage payment in the 7+ years we've owned our own home but we just can't find anything money this time as we maxed cards and od's out last time he was made redundant to get by which was in June.
Can anyone direct me on the right path, I just don't have the strength to find a solution this time round

You should still be able to claim working tax credit before the baby is born . Once your baby arrives you will then qualify for child tax credits too.
Heres a link to the tax credits website were you can input your details to work out any entitlment due. http://taxcredits.hmrc.gov.uk/
HMRC will show what you are entitled to for the rest of the tax year (now until 5th April) so to find out your weekly entitlment just divide the figure you get by 12 as there are 12 weeks left in the tax year.
Post back to let us know how you get on.The loopy one has gone :j0 -
He should have been given a contracted pay in lieu of notice and any accrued holiday pay.
Did he get this.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
NOKM - thanks for that, I had no idea I could claim now! I will follow the link and let you know how I get on.
McKneff - He was given nothing, thye just came to the house and said that they were ending is contract as of that day! the gave reasons like leaving site early (he is a passenger in the van and picked up dropped off, so don't know how they came up with this) also said he shouted at admin staff in office (he's so laid back he's nearly vertical and was mortified to be told this, as soon as the bloke left our house he called the office staff to question this and they all said he had been nothing but polite and friendly!) so he called the bloke who came to let him go and said he'd appreciate the reaosns in writing as they didn't make any sense, to which he hasn't received anything in wirting. they also only paid him up to 20th December, he worked up to and including 24th and was supposed to be on annual leave the 3 days following Christmas, which he had earned and was entitled too! After speaking to ACAS they say he hasn't got a leg to stand on as he hadn't been with them long enough!
It could be a joke its that un-real!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 315Married 03/04/2010with many thanks to MSE Wedding boardLO 23/03/12 Special thanks to TTC thread0 -
So he wasnt made redundant, he was scked for what they are saying is 'misconduct'
Surprised at ACAS not coming up with something.
Could you possibly go and get a half hour free with an employment law solicitor, most of them do give a half hour free session.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

sorry, yes I suppose that is the case, I'm confused because they told him in November he was going to be made redundant in February but did this in December! plus was made redundant twice before last year. My fault for misleading you there, they have all kind of merged into one big mess!
ACAS def said they couldn't help and that he didn't have a leg to stand on as wasn't with them over a year, and said if anything to give CAB a call to see if they can do anything!
NOKM - I'm struggling to get my head around the income part so will try again tonight at home when I have wage slips with meDMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 315Married 03/04/2010with many thanks to MSE Wedding boardLO 23/03/12 Special thanks to TTC thread0
