Voluntary Redundancy - Full Time or Part Time Salary.

I have recently accepted Voluntary Redundancy from my employer (Government Sector) however I have been told I should be entitled to more money than they have offered.
I have been employed by this organisation for 16 years. 13 years of this employment was full time. I then left to have a baby in May 2007 and received SMP at my full time salary. I returned to work in May 2008 and had to reduce my hours due to child care (I work 71% or my contractual hours). I only returned for 4 months as I fell pregnant again and then commenced Maternity Pay in September 2008 on my Part time salary. I was due to return to work in January 2010 (having used up all my annual leave and Time in Lieu) however I decided to take a Career Break (which is unpaid) as I was not ready to return to work having two young children. In September 2010, Voluntary Redundancies were announced which I applied for and has now been accepted. As I have over 10 years service, I have been offered 52 weeks pay at my Part Time salary.
Having spoken to friends and family, most seem to be under the impression that my Redundancy payment should be pro-rata and that my whole service should be taken into account. This could mean a difference of £10,000
Does anyone know what I am legally entitled to??
Any advice or help would be gratefully appreciated.

Redundancy payments are made on the salary you were being paid for the job. You moved to a reduced working week at what appears to be your request therefore any redundancy payment is made on the reduced hours.
You have been offered more than the legal entitlement so there is no legal comeback unless the calculations based on your reduced hours do not reflect the agreed terms of the voluntary redundancy scheme.0 -
The redundancy policy will be available & you will need to discuss with HR as to what you are entitled. As jazzyman01 says you are getting more than the legal entitlement so it is your internal policy that you need to look at. If you are in a union they can also advise.

Thank you to you both for your replies.
I didn't think I was entitled to any more but so many people had said otherwise, I started to doubt what I was being offered.
Thank you again.
