an acquaintance of mine will be suing a major bank (won't name the beggars yet otherwise they might make for the hills on their horses) for bank charges illegally applied. however, not in common with all other claimants, i am told that a claim will be made additionally for: 1. A Declaration that Bank Charges are unlawful.…

Forgot £10 !! (I think)
Hi all, I sent a letter to Halifax asking for details of charges over the last 6 years and another letter to the RBOS in my Mrs name asking the same. I used the letter format mentioned in Martins tips back in early Aug. Anyway, I have not heard a thing from either since and fear I may have sent them without the £10 cheque.…

Calculating The Charges
Hi all, I am just about to send off my claim to the Abbey, this maybe a dumb question but having used Martin's interest calculator do you deduct the £12 recommended fee before inputting the charge value? i.e. you would input a £35 charge as £23?

Fine for late return of Corporation tax form - could a claim be made?
Totally support reclaiming unfair bank charges. However, this has got me thinking - my husband is a one man band with a Limited Company. He doesn't have a huge turnover at all. Last year, he forgot (and it was a genuine mistake) to return his Corporation Tax return. The actual return was NIL. However, because this return…

We've got 3 accounts with First Direct who probably owe us thousands in charges but as moving soon we thought we'd wait until after that to open new accounts and go after them. However, while off work sick today I realised through this board I could also go after my credit card charges - and it will give me particular…

Fight them on the Beaches!!
I can't believe that I can actually claim those extortionate bank charges back! I know I signed the contract with my bank, but as my Husband gets paid monthly, we needed the overdraft. I think that £35 is a wee bit high a charge to have to pay when you go a few quid over. Why can't they send you a reminder letter first and…
