Uses for orange & tangerine peel please
I use it to provide extra tasty rind in marmalade but this year's supply now made so looking for other interesting uses please. Don,t like to add too much of it to compost heap as it's slower than other things to decompose.

Frugal nibbles for social distancing
Next weekend my DP and I are having friends pop over for a garden natter and catch up (as long as the weather holds). They are very kindly bringing a bottle of fizz and I want to make some nibbles to have with it, I just don't know what. I'm a relatively competent cook, but don't currently have much money for extras so I'm…

Softening fabric face masks.
After so many washes my 2 layer fabric face masks have become stiff and I would like to soften them. I'm looking to soak them in a bucket with something - we don't use fabric softner so would rather not buy a whole bottle just for a small task- is there a home made remedy? Needs to be a bucket soak as my skin issues mean I…

Weekly Flylady Thread 5th April 2021
What is
FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the
principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is
often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to
provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker.
We also…

Cleaning milkshake off carpet - smell
I spilled a glass of mango milkshake on my carpet yesterday :( I got the visible spill off with water, a bit of fairy liquid and a bit of carpet cleaner. There's still a patch that smells a bit of mango, though. Reckon that's ok to just try to clear the smell by putting on some neutradol powder then hoovering, or should I…

Microwaving jacket spud
Can you bake a potato directly on the rotating glass shelf in a microwave,e or does it have to be on a separate microwaveable plate? All the recipes indicate the latter, but I don't really see why it should be. Reason for asking is that I'm booked to stay in a room where there's a fridge and microwave provided, but as I…

Is it right to save for kids?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I did scan down looking for the best place to put it. This isn't really a question of what's the best way to save for our kids, it's whether we even should. WHY WE SHOULD: This bit is pretty obvious really. Life is expensive, and can be tough. Especially when you're young and have yet…
