This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. There was a hard frost overnight, the cars are coated with it though the sun is now bright. Yesterday the wind was very chilly, such an unwelcome change from Wednesday. When the cleaner was here I nipped out for a wee while. I went to the PO for monthly cash withdrawal (cleaner and window cleaners) and took a detour to get myself my usual flat white as breakfast.Later on in the afternoon I plunged into the pantry-of-doom. 😱 I started gently on one shelf, there are four plus the floor, which has the most frequently used items. I don't really mean 'frequently' as the first item I took out was a packet of sun-dried tomatoes with a BB date of 1992. 😱😱 It was very quickly lobbed into the bin. I've got a stash of approx 40 bottles and jars of oils, sauces and mustards to be disposed of, all out of date by a long margin. Heart-breaking. 😢 I'll take some to the tip tomorrow.DM slept for most of the morning then got a little mojo back later to do some drawing in her bed. Wasn't long before she was exhausted though I'm pleased that she wanted to.Today I'll be emptying the bottles of sauces and mustards (not the oils) to take to the food waste dumpster. I'll have to wrap it all up very carefully once in the proper bags. Luckily I've got a number of those huge carrier bags which Waitrose deliveries come in, they're very sturdy. For now my thoughts are with the poorlies, I hope things get better soon. Happy Good Friday to everyone. (Is this eating chocolate day?)14

Morning All
Permission to eat chocolate Gers! Good luck with the pantry.
It's a beautiful sunny morning but mighty cold, there's a hard frost and looked very pretty when I got up. It'll take a while to clear the car as there's thick ice on the windscreen. Bedding and towels on the line, should dry today with the sunshine.
I'm on holiday now for a couple of weeks, yesterday was manic trying to get everything done with the financial year end too. I do keep thinking it's Saturday as I'm rarely off on a Friday.
Hope the poorlies are recovering well, have a good day and take care. XX12 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Air feels quite cool this morning, cloudy too.
DH in the bath, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar whilst on here, I'll go for a shower shortly. DS1 still in his pit, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was HM chicken and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy - all eaten as those that wanted had seconds. I have a couple of options for tonight's dinner so we'll have which we fancy.
We'll be having a lazy weekend before it all starts again next week and hopefully the work situation will be somewhat clearer over the coming weeks.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Most definitely colder but I was not up early enough to see if there was frost, thank god. I had a lie in and it was lovely. Today the goth box is busy again for the OH this time, his friend is coming round to talk armies and gaming. I was thinking about going shopping yesterday for some fruit and veg but on the way to pick up OH there was traffic everywhere, and not just traffic but big big queues of it, so I very quickly gave up on that idea. I have a small piece of lamb in the freezer from buying when YS a few weeks ago [ at least the wild overspend last month resulted in no spend this month there anyway] so I might do that Sunday. I did a veg and rice and leftover chicken/chicken stock soup yesterday, there's enough for lunch today so better get thinking cap on for tonight. Ruby, i will remember that for when I have some aubergines. The grass might get a haircut today, I haven't been paying attention to how long it is and it's pretty long!Gers, good job. Florence, love the bright colours in your blanket. Nanny, hope you've not disappeared into total declutter land..Hope you're all doing OK or as well as expected or racing up and down mountains [ in your minds eye] Stay sane, look after yourselves.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers, similar experience when my mothers house was cleared out, lots of out of date products, I sometimes wonder how she did not get food poisoning.
Good Friday...... grey and cold, DB says its down to 6, will not be going out anywhere, its too brrrr.
Reconciled the bank with the spreadsheet this morning, after Wednesdays marathon and not finding where the mistakes were, the new one balances. I was puzzled yesterday that the council had not taken our rent or CT. I rang after lunch and was told we were getting a refund as we had overpaid...........I was recently awarded Attendance Allowance and that had resulted in us paying too much so adjustments were being calculated. We would get revised paperwork shortly. So........we await a letter.
I have decided to start quilting Niblets quilt next week, so clearing the board so I have at least a free hour.
I need to go into Leicester at some point once the shops have opened, so am applying for a discounted rail card. I am deaf so I get a discount of 1/3rd as does someone who accompanies me.
No plans for the weekend, we would normally have gone out for Sunday Lunch, but until the restaurants are open again, that will be a no no, will be cooking chicken I think.
Tonight supper is the usual Friday supper, good old HM fish and chips. Strawberry cheesecake to follow.

Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Cold and overcast here, I've lit the stove, Beano has had a walk and I have a cuppa.
No plans for today though I might sort out my herb tub, I have some compost left from planting lettuce.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.

Morning all
Its overcast and very windy here, I am missing the sunshine, OH (ever the optimist) thinks it will brighten up so I hope he is right.
Todays excitement is picking up my click and collect from Mr A and nipping into iceland for a few bits, not sure about dinner tonight I cant remember what I ordered but we wont starve.
Dogs will be taken out this afternoon will go somewhere nice and maybe take a picnic lunch with us.
I keep thinking its Saturday too as OH is off so that has thrown me a bit.
Have good days all and take care xxx12 -
Afternoon everyone
I still have little one as her mummy had to go back to hospital last night to be put on a drip as she was so dehydrated. They sent her home after a few hours - I wish someone would decide to keep her in to find out what's actually wrong with her. We've had a busy morning - making Easter baskets for mummy and great gran and a birthday card for great gran for Monday. She is fast asleep at the minute while I'm waiting the arrival of my next little visitor. My little great nephew is coming to play in the garden -I'm really looking forward to spending time with him as I've hardly seen him during the last year. I'm expecting him to be very excited as it's his birthday tomorrow - he'll be 4. He'll probably be quite shy at first, but his mummy said he's very excited to come and asked all week if it's the right day yet, so hopefully he'll soon be fine. Oh, I've just had a text to say he's on his way...only 2 minutes drive up the hill.
I hope everyone else has a good day too12 -
Good afternoon everyone, dull start, now bright sunshine, but a very nippy wind. Walked to market and back this morning, but after living in the south for 30 years where our particular area seemed to close on Easter Monday, not good Friday, I had not realised that so many more shops would be closed today, never mind another visit tomorrow will help with my step count.
I bought a Thyme plant to put in a pot and another baby Erysimum Bowles Mauve,as the ones I had last year were tremendous and flowered and fed the bees for months and months.
I need to wrap up warm and change back into my scruffs and get out there, OH is going cycling so just dog and me, but he has unpacked and put together the new carpet shampooer and got the big D*son out and vaccd for me.
DP1 so sorry that your DD's problems are not being resolved, but enjoy the time with the little ones. Gers my niece who will sling out anything that is a couple of hours past the BB date had already done a couple of purges at DMs house, so it could have been much worse when we cleared the house.
Hugs to all that need some, take care. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)11
