This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks. It's chilly still so I'm snuggled under my duvet until the heating kicks in.Yesterday was very quiet, DM slept for most of the day only rousing for lunch. I spent a long time dealing with the contents of the bottles and jars of oils, mustards and sauces from one of the shelves of the pantry. All the rancid oils have been decanted ready to go to the recycling centre after the weekend, the one nearest here doesn't take oil so I have to go to rhe south side foe that. I've a huge bag of glass (all washed) and four bags of food waste to take away this morning.A kind neighbour handed in a bunch of tulips for DM so we had a socially distanced chat which I really enjoyed. I had a lively early morning phone call with my SIL and a friend in Oz which started my day well. It's a shopping morning. I've ordered some special Easter cakes from the patisserie for DM and her crossword friend. That and the trip to the tip are my excitements today, I'm only contemplating attacking a second shelf. 😀My thoughts are with our poorlies. Happy Saturday to all.12

Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Air feels quite cool this morning, cloudy too.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a cheeky takeaway - menfolk's suggestion when I was getting ready for cook dinner last night - so a night off from cooking for me. Tonight will be curry etc.
We made permitted visits yesterday was good to see people.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks GERS. It's a dark start here but at least it's fine. My phone tells me it's 4 deg outside but feels like 1 deg. Brr!
I am aiming for the first bus down into town. I never got to Holland and B on my last trip out so must get there today. Then maybe a nosy in the cheapo freezer/grocery shop to see if any bargains to be had, before heading for the next bus back up. This afternoon I have the excitement of a grocery delivery and a text informs me nothing is missing and nothing is subbed. Wow!
So here endeth my exciting news for today. ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of GERS and DM and Dp1's DD who is too young to be going through such nasty health problems. Take care one and all x

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. You are doing a sterling job with cupboard clearing. It's cold and grey here, typical Bank Holiday weather. We are taking the younger two dgc's for a walk in a country park a few miles away. The site had originally been a colliery, but a few years ago it was cleared, and landscaped. and there are some lovely walks.I've told DD to make sure they are well wrapped up though.I did a big (for me) shop yesterday, was going to go to a massive Tosco a few miles away, but didn't feel very well so we just went to the small one in our town.I hope everyone has a good Saturday, thinking of Gers and her Mum, also DP1's dd, and anyone else with problems.Take care folks.12

Morning All
Thinking of you Gers and your DM, great de-cluttering!
Hoping your DD is sorted soon dp1.
Well done to your DGD TA, she's a star!
Well, I can hardly move today as I decided to paint the fence while the sun was shining, I'll try to finish it off today but that involves emptying and moving the shed to paint behind it. I'll also have to take off all the solar lights on the deck part of the fence so that should keep me busy for the day.
Shopping was done early yesterday whilst it was quiet which included some hot cross buns that were very yummy (and reduced to 20p so no calories!). Washing was all done, dried and put away and my bed re-made although I really struggled to find the energy to do that.
Another lovely sunny day in store today so off to make the most of it. Have a happy Saturday, take care. XX11 -
Hi everyone, brr, I feel sorry for everyone who has organised Easter meet ups for family outdoors this weekend. Chris and Crystal are having her mum, dad, younger brother and his gf (one household) over on Monday for a bbq so I think they will be shivering. Mind you, her mum does their (paid) cleaning so will be able to go into the house to get warm.
We probably won't be seeing anyone unless we dash down to see Esben (and L &tomorrow. We then have to go into isolation on the instructions of Moorfields where Steve has his eye op on Thursday. He also has to take a Covid test but it hasn't received one yet so we don't know what is happening. I'll probably go to L & B's after dropping him at the hospital.
He's playing golf this morning and then we need to go shopping so that we have enough milk, bread and veg to last until Friday. I have been cutting down the sweet stuff I eat since L & B were here, B is a real fiend for chocolate and as I'm a sucker for it as well I've eaten far too much since Christmas.
I will crack on with the spring cleaning. Yesterday I did the dining/sewing room which had become a mess after Laura's adventures in sewing, I keep looking at it admiringly now, it's so neat. Steve did our en-suite all except the cupboard which won't take me long to sort out. I think I will start the kitchen this morning although it will take longer than a day to sort all the cupboards and clean the oven. Steve can do the shower room if he's not too tired after golf.
Have a good day all.12 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Gers. Thinking of you and your mum.
A grey day here so far and quite cold. Perhaps it will brighten up later. I hope so because I have washing to do and prefer to put it outside to dry. Other than that, nothing to report.
Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back11 -
Morning, Hugs if you need one, (Gers and her Mum) extra large one.
Grey morning here, and quite cold, glad I do not have to go out. I expect DB will be going out to the garden for half an hour or so, he needs to wrap up. I need to sort the sewing room ready to start quilting Niblets quilt.
Quiet day yesterday, today and tomorrow, we can go to the chapel round the corner on Wednesday, It will be good to see friends we have not seen since last summer.- I have managed to shove a bit of cash into our emergency account, the first for a while, its been an expensive time, new bed and cooker. I use my CC to pay for expensive things, gives me a safeguard if something has to go back. (as per Martin) I pay it off in full each month.

Morning all
Overcast and grey here with a sharp wind but im hoping it brightens up later (it did yesterday) I have a towel wash on the go so will hang that out today it should dry well in the wind.
Next door have got a gazebo set up in the garden with table and chairs under it so looks like they are having guests, rather them than me its far too cold to sit out yet, I hope they have got blankets !!
The usual dog walk today I will pack some sandwiches up to take with us and a flask we will go further afield today and get the dogs out for a good walk, we did about three miles yesterday so would like to do four today and start to build up a bit more.
Dinner tonight will be a Greek salad and chips, we will get the chips from the kebab place in the next village and pick up some of their houmous which is delicious so a nice easy dinner, also if I squint my eyes a lot I can almost imagine that I am on a beach in Greece eating it with a cold beer
Love to Gers and her dear mum xx
Have good days all xxx11
