I've given and received a few things, all non food though, food has always been a bit too far to make it worth collecting. No problems so far, and I'm a big fan of the sharing economy!2

I’ve been a member of Olio for a few months and really like the app. The thing that has shocked me is the huge surplus amount of bread, baguettes etc that the supermarkets give away. Some of the volunteers say they often struggle to give it away. I’ve been picking some up and taking it to the local animal sanctuary along with any fruit or veg that doesn’t get requested. We also have a few people near here who pick up food from Pret A Manger, the food they add to the app is literally requested in seconds!4

ive now registered to be a food waste warrior!! theres not anything local available as yet, but its a start!!1

not sure if Olio has been mentioned before but I have just become a Food waste hero for them. you download the free app, then see what is available in your area
round here its lots of salad/veg and bread. its mainly from Tesco and at its Best before date but obviously fine for a few days or you can freeze it. might be worth a look to see what is available in your are or volunteer to cover a collection yourself, you are allowed to keep 10% of what you collect

I collect from Tesco for Olio, it's a fantastic app to help reduce food waste.
Quantities vary week to week, my mid week collection there was nothing to collect but today I've picked up two sacks of veg and bread.
New year's Day I collected 70odd bags of potatoes, 50odd bags of sprouts a d 30odd bags of carrots, almost all of which were distributed to neighbours and other Olio users. It's eye opening how much excess food there is.
I collect in the mornings so it's only best before items.
Evening collections include Use By food but it legally has to be distributed before midnight and often can't be collected until between 8.30 and 9.30pm so you need to be able to request and pick up late in the evening.
I requested a vegetarian roast and some veggie sausages the other evening. It meant going out to pick them up at 9.00pm but they are frozen ready for me to use another day and didn't end up in landfill so it was worth it.1 -
I have given away childrens toys and shoes in good condition, some unwanted toiletries (Christmas presents) and also some food gifts cheeses chutneys etc. Using the olio app it’s easy to arrange a time then leave them outside and it has been a positive experience so far, everyone has collected when they said they would.1
