Back in time for the weekend.
Did anyone see it, on BBC2? It was the same company that made "Back in time for dinner" but it had a different family this time, and it focused a lot on leisure. I was fascinated by the "diary of expenditure" that they showed, and wondered if anyone keeps one? Much of the spending was on materials to make or fix things,…

Help! My flapjack went wrong!
Decided to make a savoury flapjack. There's a hell of a lot of it. Didn't put enough butter in so it didn't hold together properly so now I have a lot of cheesy savoury crumble mixture type thing. I figure I can use some of it for a veggie crumble, so I'll perhaps do that tomorrow, but what can I do with the rest?! Can I…

Snack for tired grandaughters
On Thursdays I collect 'my' 4 and 8 year olds from school, and then take the big one to 45 mins of ballet. They are usually tired but manic and very hungry. In the past I have taken tea cakes and similar, trying to avoid too much sugar, but I'd prefer to make them something. And preferably something a bit special, as it is…

Oil on carpet
Hi, I had a man in doing some jobs & he moved the body oil from my dressing table, left it on the carpet, cat knocked it over & some seeped out. The span is about 8 inches diameter. First thing, I guess kitchen towel until it comes back dry. Then what! It's a pale beige wool 80% carpet.

Cheap "Red Bull"
Rather than ridiculously expensive Red Bull - at about £6 per litre I drink ASDA's own brand "Blue Charger" - which tastes the same and is only 79p per litre

Please please help me declutter sentimental items!
I've lived in my current home for 19 years and we are due to move in a weeks time. I planned to declutter as I filled the packing boxes, but I realise this is a bad idea! I have a large attic, garage and every drawer and cupboard stuffed with things. Getting rid of clothes, old knick knacks, electricals, etc - no problem.…

Black Marks on a White Shirt
Hi All, I have a white shirt that is not particularly old, however black marks have developed on the cuffs etc as a result of leaning on my work desk. I've put it through the washing machine a few times and even put fairy liquid on the marks prior to putting the shirt into the washing machine but to no avail. I'm not sure…

Steam press (table type) - do you use one?
Hello I've looked at the old joined threads (2008 and 2010) for this, but they weren't particularly helpful as table presses have developed a lot in the last few years and the thread digressed onto handheld steamers I can't believe that I am asking this, as I haven't used an iron (for ironing clothes, anyway) for more…

Spare Room website scam
My son is doing an internship for 6 months in London. He arranged to see a property to rent from the Spare Room website. He met the agent at the property, liked it and said he'd take it. The agent told him to transfer the £200 admin fee and said she'd meet him the next day at the property to complete the paperwork and give…
