Black Marks on a White Shirt

Hi All,

I have a white shirt that is not particularly old, however black marks have developed on the cuffs etc as a result of leaning on my work desk.

I've put it through the washing machine a few times and even put fairy liquid on the marks prior to putting the shirt into the washing machine but to no avail. I'm not sure what exactly the black marks are, it just seems to be general dust and dirt from some of the desks at work.

Any advice on how to remove?
