O/S Daily Friday 5 February 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Still dark, drying up under foot – looks like we have a bit of a breeze but air feels quite mild.

Dinner last night was a bit disjointed as DH didn’t get in until really late, he didn’t want a full meal, so had egg and bacon toasted sandwich. Myself and the boys had already had spag bol. DH's portion of spag bol has gone in the freezer. Tonight the menfolk will be having chicken and bacon kievs, chips, beans/veg, I'll be having mushroom omelette and salad.

Yesterday I did so many loads of washing – the basket was overflowing but now it’s empty – I will continue with getting it dried and folded and ironed if necessary. Today I’ll be heading to the SM – I go early so I arrive not too long after they open as if you go any later it’s a nightmare – did it once – never again! I did also manage to run the hoover over but struggled to get motivated and I did make telephone call – so not a totally wasted day but not that productive – must do the ironing today as I need uniform for tomorrow morning. I may do some cooking/baking later if I get time/feel motivated to do so.

Have good Fridays’ everyone x

Keep safe and well x

No rain here atm but cold again, the best news is we have hot water :j I cant tell you the luxury of having a hot bath last night after a week of showers up at mums and walking back down the road slightly damp :rotfl:

    Good morning everyone

I had a bit of a lie in today and managed to sleep through the whole night so I feel like a new woman :D. The girls are getting ready for school and hubby is still in bed as he has booked off the next 7 Fridays to use up his annual leave.

Plans for today include giving Max a bath and washing his bedding. I've ordered him some new toys from Amazon so they will be delivered today as well. I've bought a couple of puzzle type toys to get his brain working so I will be curious to see how he does.

Redruby, you had my sympathy about the lack of hot water. When ours was fixed there was almost a fight over who was going to get in the shower first. You don't realise what a pain in the rear it is to be without hot water until you don't have it. Glad it's all mended now for you too.

Not sure what to make for tea, I have loads in so I am sure I will find something edible.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning :hello:

The chickens seem happier at the moment – the ground is no longer soggy so they are merrily scratching for worms instead of balancing on a rock, in a bush, etc :D

I bought Scampi a jacket for really cold days, I noticed him shivering the other day when it was frosty on our walk. He's wearing it for every walk now – when it's on he's really calm, doesn't pull even slightly and he allows people to walk past him without yelling at them, lol.

I was crawling around the kitchen yesterday, cleaning the plinths. It was hard work because of my hip but I kept going, thinking I was probably doing it some good. Til I went to stand up and couldn't :D I found a position to lever myself up slowly and it kept clicking til I was upright. I took a step and it was really loose (well, normal!) so I've decided to add crawling across the floor to my daily leg exercises, lol.

Mr tru is off work today but I'm not going to see much of him, he was sorting pots and propagators last night so I think he's going to be down the greenhouse playing with chilli seeds and seedlings. I'll be staying indoors and trying to catch up on some sleep. I have some sleeping tablets but don't like taking them, I'll have to give in to them soon if this carries on.

I must catch up with posts on here properly. I forced myself to keep the laptop lid firmly closed once I'd eaten my breakfast, instead of popping in during the day each time I sit down to drink a coffee.

  • Morning all, a chilly, grey day here so I may have to dry lots of washing indoors.

Pre-weekend tidy today (am fighting a losing battle) and bathroom needs another blitz. Bedding to change, a few small jobs and then the day is mine.

Him indoors has the world's oldest mobile for emergency use and yesterday it went kaput, he is absolutely incensed and it cost him all of a fiver. Now he is Looking on Evilbay or at least he will be later, when he gets up and after he has been to get papers.

I have no inspiration about what to cook. Not sure if DS is eating with us, will check before I decide. He quite often goes out with a friend on Friday evenings but this not so regular that I can be sure. Have had a lot of pleasure from cooking while on leave but from Monday it will revert to being a husbandly job.

Not much sleep again, may have a nap later.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Morning all. I had a funny old night sleepwise. I was so tired last evening I slept for 3 hours on the sofa! Then of course didn't feel tired enough to go to bed. Mr TA went up after Question Time so I poured myself a large Baileys and watched Sports Relief Bake Off on catch-up. I eventually went to bed at 1.30 and managed to sleep (fitfully) till almost 7.00!! Wow!!

Hope all went well yesterday SISTERCAS. Fingers crossed for you.

Bit of a boring day ahead - the usual Friday clean round, followed by the ironing I should have done yesterday. A washer load to put on at some point too. No yet given a thought to today's meals but Mr TA keeps hinting we haven't had a fish pie for a while so might get some fish pieces out to defrost and give him a treat!

Got the "small" Sainsbury's shop done yesterday but it cost more than I expected. Couldn't resist stocking up on bottles of Wollemi which they were selling off at £3.75! Bargain!! Only one bottle of Shiraz left on the shelf but numerous bottles of the Chardonnay ended up in the trolley!!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to those wanting/needing them and take care xx

    Morning all,

OH woke and stupid o,clock (about 4:30) - he,s starting a big new project Monday and his brain is busy 'planning' - he,s working all weekend too, so he got me nagging him about taking on too much..... Said with love of course ;)

He,s treating me to a takeaway tonight, maybe as a passifier, but I won,t say no LOL

Got Environmental Health Inspector popping in this afternoon, my kitch is registered with local council to sell baked good and fudge, so I,ll be joining Tru in the kitchen floor shuffle - the steamer is great for the floors, buy the edges and skirting,s need doing by hand - fingers crossed I pass :)

Off to find coffee now - take care all X

Quick edit to say well done to SISTERCAS
