Morning all (well it is just).
Well done on the job Sistercas. So very pleased for you.
Lainey. Sick of having bad dreams and unbroken sleep i decided to go to bed very late (despite being tired). I finally fell asleep around 1am and woke up 4 hours later. Couldnt settle so i just lay there for what seemed like an eternity until i dropped off. The dogs woke me at 8 and i'm knackered now. The positive is, i didnt have a nightmare (but thats probably because i didnt sleep long enough to have one).:(
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Gers, can we southerners (well, Lancashire!) help with the digestive search?
Thanks - I'll let you know! Hopefully our little backwater here will have some otherwise I may have to visit every little shop between here and Glasgow - I may be some time driving down.
Winning money thoughts - it's my birthday this month and every year family and friends ask me the impossible question 'what do you want...?' I have everything I want in material terms. We've both had enough hindsight to make sure pensions were in place and fully funded and then OH's parents both died and left him everything as their only child. I really enjoy MSE'ing in everyday life as it lets me do the spending thing when travelling.
If I won a substantial amount most would go the family, there are four boys and one girl from my late brother who could do with a hand up or a cushion. That way I could feel content and reassured whilst being able to spend money without pangs of guilt! :rotfl:
Right, chores at home done. Just the dishwasher to empty and I can head off into the rain.
Happy dreaming everyone.0 -
I'll join in the lottery debate, even though we don't do it! We stopped when it went up to £2 but when we did do it I lived in fear of ever winning a large amount! I always said I couldn't cope with a vast sum of money and would have given most of it to my favourite charities. Just leaving us enough to make sure the kids had a secure future and a nice little amount in the bank for us.
Mr TA had a phone call from the surgery this morning. For some bizarre reason the Royal Liverpool have sent our hotel booking confirmation to them! They are going to scan it for their records and he can collect the original. So he has gone down on the bus to collect that! Why they didn't post it to us we don't know! (If the hospital book the hotel we get it at a slightly reduced rate. If we book it ourselves we don't, but I really would prefer to do it myself and then I know it's been done!)
WM now chugging away and lunch when Mr TA gets back. Then the pleasure of the ironing! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon all,
Congrats on the new job Sistercas, and to Dumpling for conquering your fears the other day.
I feel like today is the 1st time I've had a minute to myself since last weekend when DS2 moved back in-hopefully temporarily if he gets a mortgage. We hardly notice DS1 is here but DS2 is noisier, messier and has the 2 DGc half the time, so we certainly noticed a difference :eek:All his big stuff has gone into a kind friends garage but there were bags everywhere, still more or less sorted now.
My hairdresser has just been,I certainly needed a trim.I'm off out for a curry tonight with my old neighbours so at least my hair is ready.I just need to leave something for the men to eat.
Bought pizza last night as that is what DS1 wanted for tea as it was his birthday but it was handy as I'd done my voluntary stint in the Reception class at my old workmates school.I'm really enjoying it now and the littlies know my name. There are some little pickles but they seem a nice class.I seem to end up doing creative stuff with them but that suits me
Right, hope you all have a good weekend if I dont get on again xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Congratulations Sistercas.
If I won lots of money I'd retire, I'm 65 this year and finding work a struggle, so much lifting and shifting.

Evening all,
Lottery........if I won the lottery ( think its VERY unfair that they expect you to buy a ticket!) It would be signed by my seven 'children', OH and myself, as it is only allowed to give €3k to a child per year without creating a tax liability, death duties are paid on anything over €250,000k so the family would have their taxfree inheritance when they could use it toclear mortgages, sort children's education etc.....I can dream cant I??
Miserable day today, quite heavy rain until early evening, OH had a puncture on his way for paper, he has never changed a tyre on this car s o just left car at my brothers and rang DS3, who sorted it all when he came from work at 1.....car has one of those silly small spare wheels which can only be driven at low speed and for quite short distances....stupid idea without any safety reason that I can see......sorry rant over now!
Decided after all that drama that we would have lunch out, went to local garden centre and on the way out spent almost €50 on seeds, basket and treats for Mossy and Bran. We reallyneed to get the boxes sorted before we can do anything, I also need to sort the seeds we have from other years.
Hugs to all who could do with one for any reason, stay warm and safe
