    Morning everyone.

Back to more winds and rain today, mind you there was rain all day yesterday but it was calm. The forecast for Saturday is awful again.

I took the coat hooks up to the carpenter and chewed some fat with him. He's a real craftsman and getting on 75 yet still 'working'. Then I headed further north to Oban and had a tip-tap round it in the drizzle.

On a hunch I texted the roofer who did lots of remedial work on the house last year. There's damp coming in on the living room and kitchen ceilings but no nothing anywhere else. He was about 10 miles away so turned and came back to have a look. More tea, biscuits and chat after he'd had a good look. He has an idea about some wet timbers in the loft but will have to come back. It's nit urgent as he's sorting out people who have water coming through - perhaps about 10 days time.

As for today - I'm off down to Glasgow to spend some time with my lovely mum. I'll do her weekly shop tomorrow in the bad weather. So, a lazy start for me.

Sistercas - congratulations! I so pleased for you, interviews are always nerve wracking so getting out of an unhappy job is extra exciting.

Rain is getting harder already. My cue to get myself up and out. I've got to find digestive biscuits for mum. The factory making them has halted production because of the floods so shops are running out.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good Friday.

Morning (((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

Library and a quick trip to Lidl this morning. I have two extra for lunch tomorrow, just soup and sandwiches. The hunt are meeting in the village tomorrow, so my friend is coming over to see them, had a message yesterday to say that DD2 is coming tomorrow as well, so a tight squeeze in the kitchen with the table out full.

Decent nights sleep, OH did not cough at all. need to get him more cough stuff today when I go for yarn for the second baby coat.

Usual fish tonight may be with mash, will wait and see what OH asks for.

We had the fire on all day yesterday. When I set it yesterday morning it must have still been very warm, the paper started to smoke and shortly afterwards the flames broke through. I did not use any more coal or logs than I would in an evening, so tonight I am switching the sitting room storage heater off and will set the fire in the morning, I want to see how much it is costing me using the big heater, it is the biggest one we have and although its only on for background heat it seems to be gobbling up electricity at a great rate of knots. The two smaller ones are in the hall and kitchen, they seem to be more economical to use.

    Time to go......

    Morning everyone,

Mild and cloudy here, hope it brightens up soon.

Sistercas, congratulations on getting the job you wanted, am so pleased for you :j

Another rubbish nights sleep, woke up in early hours and just lay there worrying over stupid things, eventually got up and came downstairs but feel very low. Am not the most confident of people and am getting worked up about Monday, even though it's what I really want do still find it very daunting.
Anyway, will need to go out and get some bits this morning, youngest SS is coming over for lunch to tell us all about his travels in Thailand so OH is in the study trying to get work finished up.
Hope everyone has a good day x

  • Good Morning all and well done sistercas on getting your job, always great news when things go right and in this day and age securing a job is a big cheer:):):)

I have History club this afternoon and we have 'phrases and sayings' and how they evolved so it should be interesting.Another NSD though, enough in store to last until mid=week next week. Both my Dds are hassling me about Sunday, and what I want for my birthday, but I honestly can't think of anything I either need or want I am happy with what I have and have no longings for anything I have enough clothes to clothe half the street and more slippers than I could ever wear out in my remaining lifetime .Knee deep in perfume and toiletries etc. Can't squeeze much more into my food cupboards and my gardener does all my garden for me I have shelves of books as yet unread. So I just can't think of anything I would like or need .

Probably the reason I never do the lottery as it would be a waste for me to win anything as I have enough stuff now and need no more I live in a house I like surrounded by nice friends and family so I would never move from here.I have visited the places in the world I would want to go and seen what I wanted to see.I am really useless at thinking of anything I guess I am just contented with what I have already .
How about the rest of you what would you say to something unexpected suddenly coming into your life i.e. the lottery win what would you do with it ? be interesting to see what folk come up with :):):)

Jackie O - we,ve always said if won a large amount on the lotto, apart from the obvious making sure the kids are financially secure for the future (not to be spent on fast cars etc), my OH would like to buy a large plot of land locally, and start a 'trade school' to teach youngsters proper skills, joinery, brickieing, electricians, plumbers etc and use 'old school' tradesmen to pass on their skills and use the land for the 'pupils' to actually build houses for local youngsters to rent affordably - put something 'real' back into our community - we might take a holiday, but not long haul posh - would love a foodie week in San Sebasti!n X

Gers, can we southerners (well, Lancashire!) help with the digestive search?

JackieO if we won a massive amount, I would make see my family are all secure & housed, and finish off all those jobs on our home, then sell up & buy an old farmhouse house we've seen locally next to my allotment. We'd both give up work, DH would play golf, go walking & play guitar, I'd be on my plot, cooking & crafting :D
