So just read the info leaflet that comes with the HRT patches and have frightened myself to death. i know NO medical advice but any tips that any of you have used, obviously in the OS tradition - thanks in advance x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Hi Molly
I find that red wine and coffee tend to set off my hot flushes. Also when I have a few days of not eating properly ( too much takeaway or sugary stuff )
My GP said that he'd rather leave HRT unless absolutely necessary and then only for 5 years so if I do it now I can't later. Also to treat myself well, good diet, rest, the occasional treat etc. The old fashioned way. But if you are being made absolutely miserable you need to go back and discuss what else your GP can offer.
Hope this helps

It is totally an individual choice based on your personal circumstances, risk factors etc.
I took HRT and it helped greatly and when I stopped my symptoms didn't come back. In my case I took it because of osteoporosis in my family which it protects against.
Don't listen to the scare stories.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Low carbing seemed to help me, which ties in with the no sugary stuff. Actually I was having hot flushes through the hot humid weather we had last summer. I think my body gave in as it couldn't compete :0 .0

we, my friends and me, used to eat a slice of menopause cake. It was like a brick but ok, certainly helped

The worse for me was getting so hot at night, one leg and arm always out of the duvet. I used a chillow pillow, was very good
The main thing is that I was a busy person, work, children and several hobbies, so didn`t think about the menopause too much, had other things to think about and we ate wholefoods anyway, including seeds etc
Ten years going into it and 10 coming out of it but its a natural process so just went with it. and came out well but with a thickened waist and everything else gone south, however the mind remained sharp and the mood cheerful0 -
I find sage leaf tablets from H&B help with my flushes - think boots do some too but not tried them.January spends - £587.580

Totally agree. I'm on the patches after trying natural remedies. I was adamant that I would sail through the menopause but my body had others ideas. I'm more than happy on the patches.

Just to say thanks for your contributions - had a big chat with OH and I am going to keep plodding on atm although I do have high risk for osteoporosis so may consider them again in the future. Im very young for the menopause so glad i had my kids young etc.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

impact exercise, like starjumps to help increase bone density. I have a rebounder on my landing, gives me stronger bones without stress on my joints.
You need to google suitable impact exercises. I don`t do starjumps any more, rebounder is more suited to my age0
