I had a short, sharp set of unpleasant symptoms, including horrendous night sweats and bad mood swings, but am lucky to have a fantastic, and very reasonably priced, herbal medicine clinic based in a local university, run by students and supervised by their lecturers. The tincture they gave me really sorted my hormons out.
I also put in place other lifestyle changes, ate a vegetarian, mostly organic and plant based diet, minimised the intake of refined carbs, alcohol and caffeine, and steeped up my physical activity. You could say I took a belt and braces approach, but hey ho, it worked! I suffered for less than 6 months, a couple of years ago, and now it is all in the past.
Of course I might just be one if the lucky ones. It was the same with periods, throughout my young years I never had any problems, could do everything without any pain or upset, swam in the sea, run etc. My sister, and many other young wonen I knew, had to take to their bed with hot water bottle and painkillers. Maybe we are all different in how our bodies react to hormonal events.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I started with symptoms about 4 years ago, age 47. I still had a Mirena coil so was given progesterone patches to complement its oestrogen. I've had my dosage gradually increased, and my husband says he blesses the doctor who saved his wife from killing him!
I got extreme PMT & hormonal migraines 14 days out of 29 before I got my meds, and think they're the best thing I've ever been prescribed.
