New house- inherited bad smells
Hi I've just moved into my first home today. Unfortunately there were bad tenants in there and the whole house stinks of wet dog smells and smoke. I've just hoovered the front room and it's filled an entire nag with dust and hair. The smell is still lingering. Any ideas?

make better use of the space inside cupboard - drawer unit?
I have the usual double cupboard under the sink. It can't have a shelf across the middle of it due to the sink waste etc, so I can only use the bottom of the cupboard for storage. I store all cleaning items in here - bottles, cloths, sponges, wipes, candle etc. This means its chockablock and there is wasted space. In a…

How do I organise my 'everything (clutter)' drawer in the kitchen?
Afternoon all. I am sorting out my drawer in the kitchen which everyone is allowed (it's the law, honest!). I can sort out some of the bits such as batteries (in a cereal bag), rubber bands all stuck together etc. But how do I organise the scrap paper/envelopes etc? They take up very little space on the day I tidy the…

Bulk Buying on eBay ro reduce Grocery bill?
I've been trying to reduce our grocery bill and one way I thought of recently was seeing if you could buy some things in bulk on the internet. Lo and behold eBay is full of options for bulk buying for the likes of dishwasher tablets and washing powder and cleaning products in general. Germany seem to have sellers who sell…

Indian dips for poppadoms
My very favourite part to an Indian meal is the poppadoms and chutneys and dips. I can make the raita with cucumber, mint sauce and yoghurt. I also make a salad with red onion, tomatoes and coriander leaf. Then I resort to opening jars of mango chutney. As the weekend is approaching and Saturday is the best night for a…

Food like it used to taste... a HUGE discovery...
This won't make a lot of sense to those much below 50, anyone truly committed to diehard food budgeting or addicted to processed food/ready meals. I've just been through a revelation. Invited today to a neighbour's for lunch. Heavenly hams/cold meats. Vegetables with the kind of distinctive flavour I remember from my…

Stock Cubes
I need to get some more vegetable stock cubes and wondered what other people buy. Currently I have Asda own brand but find they don't crumble or dissolve very well. Are the Tesco Everyday value ones any good or just like adding a lump of salt? My beef and chicken ones are oxo from £ stores but i've noticed the packs there…

How to clean a mattress
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to clean a mattress - just general grubbiness rather than any particular stain? Decisions decisions, should I have a steam cleaner for my birthday which is next week
I've been wanting a steam mop/cleaner for a while now and my other half said he will buy me one for my birthday which is next week but he has told me I may find it a faff to use as has one and never uses it, I have also heard other people say they are too fiddly to use and its quicker to use a mop and bucket or a cloth. I…
