Kenwood Major - get rid of mandolin?
Evening all, a quick question if I may. I'm trying to declutter and get rid of items I don't need and rehouse them to new homes. I have a tbh rarely used mandolin and a kenwood major with a food processor attachment (which so far has never been used - not quite sure why - this needs to be remedied). If I get my head into…

Help! Why did my sauce fail?
I watched a bit of Nigella yesterday and she made what seemed a simple and very tasty sauce: some apple cider in a hot pan, boil a bit, add some whole grain mustard, and then add some cream. I tried this yesterday, without measuring or timing anything and it came out beautifully. So I wanted to make a bigger portion today…

Limescale protection from Kettles
I'm getting a new kettle but it's stainless steel. Any tips on how to prevent Limescale getting on the lid. Spout and inside? My old kettle is ruined by it, especially on the lid and spout areas. I can't use Viakal (which is really good) because it says not to use on electric appliances x

What is this? Help please
I've been having a bit of a declutter and come across a board game (I think :o ) but have no idea what it is. Am assuming that the are more spaces than balls to allow the pieces to be moved around, but am fascinated as to what it might be. Searched google images with no success - what do you think?

Aldi or Lidl?
There's an Aldi and Lidl across the road from each other close to my home. I don't really know much about either (I've been a Sainsbury's shopper for years). So I was hoping to get some opinions on here. Where would you shop? Which do you think has the best fresh veg and meat? Do they do free range eggs and chickens?

Carpet Beetles?
Hi, I have noticed the following nestled in my carpet for almost a year. I hoover them away each time I spring clean, but they seem to be coming back. I have counted under 10 this time. There don't seem to be many, but I am worried that they may be the dreaded carpet beetles. Can anyone help in identifying them? I have not…

Are they flavoursome? How do you usually cook yours? :)

A New Start
Well this is a complete new beginning for me. My OH and I have just moved in together. This is the first time I have lived with a man, so lots of adjusting for me! He's moved into mine and I've always been pretty frugal through necessity more than anything else (I used to be on here under a different name) However, whilst…

HELP! Will this be safe to eat?
Hi, I got a lovely pork shoulder on special offer last week and popped it in freezer at the time. Took it out to defrost last night for a planned slow cooked pulled pork today. Got everything prepped and was just about to put in slow cooker when I realised it wasn't fully defrosted in the middle :-(. Could kick myself! So…

The envy of people
Update 10/10/2014 I am deleting my posts on this thread because I decided to ignore the envy of people and feel that keeping a written record of it gives me bad karma. Thank you to all who have posted here.

Kidney beans
I made a chilli tonight with some kidney beans that I had taken out of the freezer (froze the leftovers of a can last time I made chilli). Now I want to freeze the leftover chilli - will it be OK as the beans have already been frozen? Thanks!

Stand Mixer Question
Good evening! I have just got a kenwood propspero stand mixer which is great because I make cakes as a hobby. I also make shortbread and scones on occasion. My question is, when making shortbread, I cream the butter and sugar then mix in the flour but end up squashing it together by hand - so would I use the dough hook on…

Can I freeze Spinach
I love spinach, but I'm the only one in the family that likes it. It doesn't have a very long shelf life, so I end up throwing loads out. Can I freeze spinach? Thanks x
