This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

• Good Morning everyone, well the big day is here at last, and I'm up at silly o'clock :)

Thank you for all of your good wishes, you are all so kind, and have been with me whilst I have been on this journey. It hardly seems possible it was 2007 since I went in for the mastectomy, and now I'm almost back to my old self again.

Islandmaid I know how your friend felt ,the prosthetics are very uncomfortable ,especially in the summer as they make you feel very hot. Imagine having a rubber football strapped to your front :):):)

I have to pick up my DD at 7.00 this morning as we have to be signed in by 7.30. DD will take my car home with her once I'm done and awake , by then I will hopefully know how long I'll be in for.

I am dying for a cuppa but I can only sip water until later today .
My eldest has promised me a strawberry MaccyD's milkshake (the only thing I really likes from there :):)) when she comes in tonight.

My brother phoned me from France yesterday bless him, I'm hoping he will get over before Christmas, and apparently my niece from Mexico is coming over for a six-week stay, and lands this Wednesday ,so I want to be up and mobile asap.

DGS Ben is also ok and enjoying his Uni experience, so all the family seem to be ok at the moment ,no crisis's as yet.:):)
I'm just off for a shower now so I'll say TTFN and I'll 'see' you all when I get back home again.
Cheers chums have a great day

Morning :hello:

JackieO Best wishes for today, thinking of you xx

We were near Oakhampton (Devon) on friday, the engine warning light came on and the car sounded odd. We didn't know whether it was safe to carry on to the nearest garage (we didn't actually know where that was, mind :D) or not so we decided it was best to stop. Phoned the AA, while we were waiting we googled it and decided it WILL be the cheapest, easiest thing to fix – and it was :D An ignition coil. Wish we'd carried on to a garage, it would've saved a long wait for that yellow van :D

Had some lovely fish and chips from the Coddy Shack which seems to be quite famous around here :D We were going to eat in but it was rammed so we sat by the sea in Looe instead.

Yesterday was great, we pottered about and drank lattes by the sea. We went food shopping and arrived at the cottage at 2pm – the earliest we were allowed to pick up the keys - and unpacked in record time. A gift shop on the harbour which closed a couple of years ago has re-opened as a coffee shop, it looks really nice so I'll try them out later. A little farm shop has opened too, I'll nip in there if they're open today.

Hope all goes well Jackie.
Welcome Mrs Christmas, welcome back Autumn Leaves
I've been up since 5 for some reason, hubby is working today, but not 'til 9, I'm going to babysit for DD1 this morning so she can get a few things done, her hubby has been away & will be back tomorrow.
WM is chugging away & DW has been emptied &refilled. I need to run the vacuum through later & then hopefully I'll get some sewing done.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.
• Morning all :)

Jackieo- I hope all goes well and they let you come home again soon, we'll have the kettle on ;)

I had an aching wrist yesterday evening and couldn't work out why until DH reminded me I had been pruning back the fuchsia in the front garden. There was only 4 or 5 branches that were a struggle to snip through, but apparently that was enough!

I have really been bitten by the gardening bug, in fact as soon as I woke up this morning I felt like nipping out to do a bit more - don't think the neighbours would appreciate it tho :rotfl:

DH wants to go to a classic car show today which is being held at a big antique centre so there will be plenty to see. I must try not to buy anything tho, I'm supposed to be clearing out the house not adding to it!

I hope everyone else has a good day, and hugs for any who need them xx

Morning everyone.

Missed JackieO, she'll be under by now.

Very misty here this morning. Yesterday the forecast for us was 19c and sunny, today it's changed to 15c and cloudy.

Swallows have finally gone. I got a photo of about 30 of them all sitting on a telegraph wire yesterday and now there are none.

Must do some small things in the garden today, apart from that there are no plans. I don't want to go out or do any driving, just want a day of rest.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
• Good Morning everyone, lovely abd bright here today with sunshine but cooler than of late. Looks to be a nice drying day so the washing will go in the machine in a few minutes.

JACKIE good luck for your op today, hope it goes well and that you are happy with the results. Take care of yourself pet.

Not much planned today except tackling the tomato mountain to make some puree. I don't seem able to keep up with them this year as they are ripening so well, even in the garden, there are more every time I look. I'll like the finished produce though, so I'm not really moaning!

Have a good day all, Lyn xxx.
• Good morning everyone :)

Dull but dry and quite warm, so the bathroom has been emptied and everything is washed and on the line.

Am definitely on the mend, so it looks like 2 weeks is the duration, same as DH. Just wish the cough would clear off completely and let me get a night's sleep without any medicine. I must not complain, I feel so much better today.

New resolution is to buy 1 LED light bulb each month and gradually replace all in the house. Started yesterday with the landing light.

Welcome to MrsChristmas and welcome back to AutumnLeaves :hello:

Will be thinking about JackieO today and hoping she is back with us soon x

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

• good morning everyone,

Weather not bad here today, WM on with some coloureds so they will be out shortly. Popping up to see DD and have a coffee with her.

So sorry to hear Linda Bellingham's cancer is terminal, a lovely lady and so strong to be able to talk about it.

We have a fairly quiet week ahead of us, 2 grandchildren coming for their evening meal but not sure which night yet. DGS is doing A levels and DGD2 is doing GCSE so both have quite a few things on at the moment, so I have asked them to just text me when they know which night they can come.

I hope Jackie is first on the list so she hasn't had much time to worry and sending her gentle hugs for when she comes round.

Molly I hope you are OK, hugs to you as well.

Lyn good luck with the continuing tomato mountain :)

Have a good day everyone

Morning all,

Beautiful day here got the bedding in the wash and will get it on the line later, dd is here she slept the night, her and the girl she shares with are having trouble with a neighbour he seems to be high on drugs all the time and keeps coming round banging on their door and causing trouble, he came round Friday shouting and barged his way in, he seems to be obsessed with dd and kept asking where she was (she had popped out) luckily the girls boyfriends were there and managed to get him out, but I am very worried about the girls when they are there alone, I have told them not to answer the door and to call the police if he turns up, also they are going to write everything down, but its such a worry.

Had a good day in Brighton yesterday spent far too much :o I bought myself a new pair of Dr Martin boots which are lush and a jumper and a few camisole tops for under jumpers during the winter.

Today will be a tidy through, fit the new taps on the bath, do an online shop. I will take dd back at some point probably later when her friend is due back.

Hope all goes well for Jackie and they she is soon on the mend with a pert new boob :D

Have good days all xx

Morning,

In a bad mood, some neighbours had a party last night, so had to lie awake listening to them. I'm guessing they could have disturbed up to 18 houses and we were all too damn polite to do anything about it. They put up a gazebo yesterday and had a barbeque, fair enough, but they should have brought the party into the house at 12. It was OH I felt for, he had to get up at half 6 for work. Sorry rant over.

Yesterdays washing out on the line after the rain came and soaked it. The house is relativley clean so not much to today apart from the ironing. Turkey for dinner tonight.

Good luck jackieo
