  • Good afternoon.
Hope you dont mind me joining in, hope everyone is ok.

Ive just started posting after browsing here for years because sometjing has to give now and its back to oldstyle I go. Tbf I used to really enjoy being oldstyle but things slipped.

Today ive already done a wash and about to hang it out, trying to keep DH away from the tumble dryer hes an addict.
made a batch of tomato sauce had some with pasta for lunch and froze two portions. Each portion is enough for 5 of us (3 little ones).
Cooking a chicken and gammon joint later, have for tea, save som ham for sandwiches, ham and chicken risotto for tea tomorrow, make some chicken soup and some pea and ham soup.
fingers crossed anyway! New to this type of cooking.

Made some delicious df brownies as well, never done before so yum they will accaccompany downton nicely tonight
  • Thank you all for the warm welcome, like you Hester I too was up around 5. I did pop on for a bit of a read with my 1st cuppa whilst the house was still quiet & then decided to tackle the 'paper draw'!
So overflowing & quite disappointing to find some vouchers that had expired but nonetheless all sorted into the appropriate places now & the rubbish/old letters, bills, personal info bits, burnt in the chiminea with some old bits of wood from the garden.
Began to meal plan yesterday for the week ahead, taking on board what is already in the cupboards so that my trip to Lidl this morning was for only what was needed to put meals together. I'm really happy as apart from bread & milk I think I have everything I need until next weekend, including the kids lunch boxes & after school snacks & it was just over £55 (I also popped a few nibbles for the Christmas cupboard in :) I'm hoping for a NS couple of days at least. Meals for the week include pork roast today, lasagne tomorrow, sausage & baked bean casserole, fish, chips & peas, chicken fajitas, butter chicken curry & pizza, chips & beans.
School & work uniforms all washed & drying outside, just me & the dog waiting for the football crowd to return for the roast.
Welcome IRISVIOLET, I enjoy batch cooking too when I get the chance. Another one looking forward to Downton... Enjoy those brownies!
Enjoy that strawberry milkshake JACKIO x

Welcome Iris, Hugs to Molly, Hilly & LW.
I'm back from DD1's I had some lovely cuddles with the twins, who puked & poo'd on me, the older DGC liked the cake & clothes I'd taken over for them. I got home about 1:30, showered & changed & cooked roast lamb for me & hubby, I'm putting my feet up for an hour & then start sewing.
    Hugs Hester

    Afternoon all.

Spent the day doing not a lot. Must remember that when I next have a shower not to have the washing machine running at the same time as the water for my shower was not as hot as it could have been. I did two lots of washing and hung them on the line outside to dry.

Looked for a job and did some online applications.

Cooked myself some dinner - some roast beef which I served with peas, mash and gravy. The beef was lovely and it probably tasted even better because it was cheap - a large-ish joint bought for £3.97 from a whoopsie shelf, the joint was too big for me so I had cut it into 3 - this small bit was enough for my dinner with no leftovers.

I have put my bin out for the dustmen but haven't bothered with my recycling as the paper bin isn't full and the green bin (bottles etc) is empty.

Hope the surgery went well JackieO.
  • Quiet day, OH finished washing out the plant pots, they are dried and in the shed ready for next year.

I nipped to Tesco to get some bio powder to try and clean the pressure cooker, up to now not much luck. I will be rally annoyed if it's a write off. It's a new one, my old one went funny last year and Prestige replaced it. This one is stainless steel and they are a fortune to buy, something like £80+

Finished blanket stitching another chicken on its background. Have to layer it up and quilt it now.

Chicken and all the trimmings for supper.......

Day wasn't as quiet and restful as I hoped. OH decided to sort out a little problem with the bedroom TV, the I wanted the furniture rearranged and the he grappled with a tricky programming of the new radiators. Then he drove the neighbours 'new' tractor for a while and came back with a very wide Cheshire Cat-style smile. Boys and their toys.

I cooked a frozen pizza but forgot that the new oven is fan operated so it was rather cremated. :p

In bed now, got a very very early start tomorrow. Hope JackieO is feeling well and perky.

    Welcome to new posters too.
