Vegetables in slow cooker - help please
Hi, I bought a slow cooker the other day with the idea of having a ready made meal when I get in from work without it being a microwave ready meal that I always seem to be eating. The other night in the slow cooker I had a chicken breast and some veg, as instructed on the instructions for the slow cooker I put the veg at…

What products do you miss?
I was wondering if there were any products you just can't get anymore and you miss? Maybe they don't make them anymore, or you just can't find them - other people might be able to tell you where you can. Could be anything - food, cleaning products, whatever. If you haven’t already, join the forum to reply. If you aren’t…

Slimy frozen chicken breasts
I use chicken breasts once at the most a week (for hunters chicken usually). The rest of the time I use thighs for casseroles etc. I shop in Sainsburys (we don't have an Aldi or Lidl near us and I shop online) and usually they have a deal on packs of chicken breasts or the biggest pack is the cheapest per 100g. I the past…

Bread machine broken! Which model to replace it please?
As the thread name says, our bread machine has finally died. When we bought it, it wasn't an all singing one, it was a compact one which did the job (very well, as it turned out, it was a good buy!) Just had a nose on the John Lewis and Argos websites and am alarmed how expensive they are!!! I'll look on ebay later, but am…

Teasmade or themos flask for frail lady?
Yesterday I spoke to my 96 year old grandma who lives about 2 hours drive away from me. Her legs have begun to fail her and she is now walking with a frame. She has a carer come in twice a day, but says what she misses most is a hot cup of tea, as by the time she makes the tea in the kitchen and gets back to her chair, it…

question for the shabby chic'ers
DD4 has finally gotten her own room now DD1 has moved out. DD1 took all the bedroom furniture with her so DD4's room is currently furnished with various oddments. It's a bit of a mess, with a pine bed, beech desk, white and oak coloured MDF bedside cabinet and MDF mahogany coloured wardrobe (I still have to find a chest of…

Burnt cake - rescue recipes
I've burnt my little girl's birthday cake :( . I tried chopping off the burrnt bits but what's left has little substance. It was a madeira recipe I've looked online and the suggestion seems to be to make a trifle. I'm not sure how this would go down - she doesn't like very sweet things and never had jelly desserts.…

'Best Choice Holidays', has anyone booked with this company?
Has anyone used BestChoiceHoliday.co.uk to book a hotel before? We are looking to book the Hilton Dalaman hotel in Turkey in July and this seems to be the cheapest. I've searched for any feedback on this site but can't see anything good or bad. Has anyone used them?

Every week I go to aldi and sainsburys for our shopping and spend around £100 a week for my family and me (2 adults and 3 young children). Slow Cooker - Piping Hot?
I've only used mine a few times, but yesterday when I took my sweet and sour chicken out of it, it wasn't piping hot like you'd expect it to be. It was cooked and everything, just not as hot as I was expecting. Is this normal? I had it on slow from 9.30am to about 5pm.
