OS Daily Thread Tuesday 21st January

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Morning all.
Another broken night (at this rate i will be asleep on my desk soon).
Major rows last night with dd, as she brought home blonde and purple hair dye. After trying to explain to her she cant put blonde on to strip the colour and then purple straight after she decided to go blonde (she has coloured her hair so much it is brittle and falling out already) now she is sporting a gingery blonde brown mess. Well she can live with it as there is no way i am going to pay out for the hairdresser to sort it now.
Cold and foggy here today and i am sitting in my office waiting for the heating to kick in (hope it will as yesterday it was having a hissy fit and i had to go boost start it), then once it gets light i am off on the playground to litterpick after the little darlings.
Dinner tonight is lasague, garlic bread and salad.
Got to make extra bread today for my veg lady (get 2 delieverys a week of veg the market cant keep till next time FREE, so in return i make her bread and rolls for the week)
Hope everyone stays warm today. Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx
  • Morning to all :)

Yesterday I managed to get everything done I needed to. HV was late and DD1 was shattered (she didn't nap on Sunday) but yet managed to pass with flying colours and then some :D She was also impressed that DD2 goes 11 hrs as standard between bottles at night, and goes to be alone, sleeping 9 hrs. I'm blessed with sleepers, but she is the best at it :)

So today we need a slow day, DD1 was so tired she wouldn't sleep last night, and was up an hour ago... So she's staying in her onesie and having an early nap for as long as she want today.

I'm going to make more bread today (I've only got a whole loaf of each type in the freezer so far, I need 2 of each). The house needs a tidy up too. I need to make DD1 her lunch of mini toad in the hole (using granary flour), I'll be making 12 or 24 (depends how far the batter stretches) and freezing what's left. I'm also going to try and make 2 lemon drizzle cakes, and do my weeks ironing.

Tonight the yogurt from yesterday needs making too.

And my windows and gutters are being done today :)

    Busy busy!

Hope everyone has a great day x

    Good Morning All

A cold start here too but no rain :j

Todays plans - couple of hours in the office this morning, pop out to have eyebrows waxed then once back home will be houseworking and ironing.

Some sort of fish from the freezer with new pots and peas for dinner tonight, oh and must remember to drop off prescriptions when out.

So again nothing exciting, hope to hear this week when I start work again - can't wait. OH is at work but DS is at home again, don't know how long the counselling appointment will take so have looked up some private ones locally - will give them a call later.

Have to be truthful, I know its not good wishing your life away but I really want January to be over - horrible month :o

    Have a great day all.x

    Morning all

Looked like it would be frosty last night but it isn't so at least I wont have to scrape the car. Still chilly but if it's anything like yesterday it will be a joy to do playground duty - it was lovely and sunny for a change.

Went after to work to another travel agent and booked flights for the summer, I am going to Hong Kong, Sydney, Bankok and Krabi, away for a month and thoroughly looking forward to it!! All paid for by the council as they settled an equal pay claim. I decided to spend it on me as it is money I haven't known about or missed. I will be in Sydney visiting friends and one of them is coming to Thailand with me.

Back to earth today though, not sure what to make for tea, DD is taking left over fajitas for her lunch so hopefully wont want much for tea, it's quite hard trying to get her something when she doesn't get in till 8 so she's not too full before she's off to bed. Maybe just an omelette will do.

Must chase up the tree chap today, he was meant to come and have a look at the very large tree in the garden that I want to have removed. Also I need to get hold of a couple of other workmen so the house can get some much needed repairs done.

Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Still dark, foggy, cold and not sure if we've had a frost too, wouldn't be surprised though as it was really cold last night.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy. All eaten and enjoyed. Remembered to get a portion of fish out to defrost for my dinner tonight. Menfolk will be having battered fish, chips and beans/veg. I'll be having fish, jacket potato and veg. If I get time when I get home from work I'll put the jam and cream in the Victoria sponge and the menfolk can have a slice for dessert. They've already eaten all the mince pies!

Work yesterday was a manic Monday - I've still got a pile of unfinished work on the desk that I had to leave as I just ran out of time last night. I still had a customer after the shop had closed and had to finish up with her quicker than I would have liked, but she hadn't got all her information and so has said she will return today with it and she's hoping I am available this afternoon to see her again and finish everything off. I have a stack of emails from last week that I haven't read yet and 1 that I did manage to read where I've needed to speak to the customer again but now can't get in contact with them on the telephone number they have given us .....and their case is getting quite urgent ...! Have had a week off, and already after 1 day if feels like I haven't had a break at all ... oh well, onwards and upwards I can only do what I can do. And breathe .........

I'm trying very hard at the moment to leave the kitchen clean and tidy at night, and also after brekkie - so when I get in from work it's not a mess but more importantly there's not stuff left everywhere over night and I get up to it in the morning - it just makes everything seem to be easier if you've not got to clean up before you can start the day.

I also have a couple of programmes recorded that I need to watch - will endeavour to do that later tonight, when i can get a slot to watch the tv!
    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Very cold this morning but there doesn't seem to be any frost, just mist/fog.

Off for a walk first thing with my mate :) Then I have to pop a cheque into the bank.

I'm feeling a bit lively and refreshed today, I think it was because I had such a good yoga class last night. Probably because we had a long relaxation :):)

DH is off to do a little job this morning and then has a funeral to attend. Very sad; a woman he knows died suddenly, only in her late 40's. Makes you think doesn't it and appreciate what you have?

Not sure what I shall do for tea tonight. Haven't thought that far ahead yet!

Jackie - Hope your cold improves.

    Morning all,

Thick fog here really bad cant see to the end of the drive. I was supposed to be on a day off today but got called yesterday and asked to go in yesterday and today, one of the other women had some kind of emergency, I could not go in yesterday but will today, its ok because I really love the work.

Dinner was supposed to be roast lamb, but I have had to postpone that till tomorrow, If I get called in again it will be put off till next week. So I have got some mince out and dinner will either be spag bol or a chilli, whoever gets in first can start cooking.

Have a good day all and take care if you have this fog xx
