Bread machine broken! Which model to replace it please?

Options
As the thread name says, our bread machine has finally died. When we bought it, it wasn't an all singing one, it was a compact one which did the job (very well, as it turned out, it was a good buy!)

Just had a nose on the John Lewis and Argos websites and am alarmed how expensive they are!!! I'll look on ebay later, but am wondering if anyone can recommend a brand/model which they are pleased with????

Give up the breadmaker, buy two 40cm plastic bowls (85p each from the Range), then start making real bread, using basic ingredients and your hands - feel the love flow from your fingers into the dough.

I am starting to sound like an Evangelist minister, so I will stop - but you get the idea.

Panasonic + 1 (I want the one that makes cakes, mine doesn't!)
  • I have a Morphy Richards Fast bake - absolutely brilliant!!! I've never had a bad loaf since getting it

I am very happy with my Panasonic (doesn't make jam; I still use the jolly old cauldron for this, plus DH to do the stirring):D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Panasonic all the way. Mine is 3 years old now and bakes 2 loaves a day... That's 2000 loaves and still going strong :)

Although I bough the all singing all dancing one. I'd get the more basic of the 2 on offer next time :)
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Thanks everyone.....mine was a Morphy Richards compact one and was fab. Am going to look at the MR fastbake one and the cheaper Panasonic and decide which one to wait for in a sale!!
In the meantime, my DH has gone all caveman and decided that making it by hand is his next manly challenge........we'll see!

Unnecessary work in my mind, but if he gets enjoyment out of it - Why not?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
