Experimental cooking
I have this last couple of weeks decided to experiment with some different ways of cooking. On camp the other week I made cups of tinfoil (moulded it on the bottom of a cup) dripped in a spot of oil and cooked eggs on the griddle plate of my cobb bbq oven. Earlier I tried the method of cooking a swede whole in…

Shoe repair
I've got a pair of deck shoes and the sole has split on one of them so it's letting in water. The upper part of each shoe is in reasonable condition. If I take them into a high street shoe repairer will they be able to fix them or should I just buy a new pair (£40 or so)? Thanks.

Creative cook? how can I use up....
Hi in a lovely Christmas hamper I got some whittards white hot chocolate powder and some whittards hot chocolate and ginger powder. Both these say to mix with milk to make a drink, however I know I'll never do this. Can anyone think of a way I can use these perhaps to make cakes or something? I really don't want to waste…

Slow cooker how-to
Hi, Please could someone explain to me how to cook more than just a casserole-type meal in a slow cooker. I have just read on a `how to save money` thread that people cook meatloaf and lasagne in them... Meatloaf - do you cook the mince first? I add an egg to bind it, do you still do that? How do you shape it? Lasagne -…

Bread maker or Shop bought???
Hi, Excluding the cost of a break maker (as they vary in cost or quality). What would work out cheaper: bread from a bread maker or store bought bread? Taking into account the costs of all ingredients of a normal loaf for an average size bread maker compared to a brand name bread such as hovis, kingsmill, warburtons,…

Favourite slow cooker recipe
I bought a slow cooker a few months ago and haven't really been fussed about anything I've made in it. I know a lot of people on here love them therefore could some of you post some of your favourite tried and tested recipes. I have a 3 week old baby and 20 month old toddler so it would be a handy way to prepare dinner.…

Two weeks without my store cupboard...
I'm hoping some of you can help me sort out some low-stress, low cost, but still healthy ideas for two weeks worth of meals. A couple of days ago the ceiling beneath our bathroom collapsed. This may or may not have happened in the middle of the night the day before OH had a job interview early the next am. Anyway long…

How to make Dr Karg Emmental & pumpkin seed crackers?
I am rather addicted to these rather expensive (but quite healthy) crackers. They cost me £2.09 for a pack of about 8 slices in Tesco yesterday, but sometimes the price is well over £3. Has anyone got any ideas how I could make something similar? Yeast is involved, so it is not a simple biscuit-type recipe. Ingredients…

sorry if my post offended
My post appears to have been removed - not moved which I could understand as I wasn't sure where to place it. Sorry if it offended or broke the rules, I just thought it was a nice story about a little boy doing good for charity by having his hair cut and donating it to make wigs. Oh well, I be off to count my blessings…
