a shopping list programme/website

Options
Hi All you MSE'rs

I have also put this question on the techies forum but think you may be able to help me or give me ideas!
I HATE shopping I HATE meal planning and I HATE having to link the 2 of them together!!!

There is only me so it makes the whole process seem a lot of work for nothing! I am also looking to lose weight so the whole process is just demoralising and quite frankly too much work . :(

Anyway now that you get the gist of my gripes can anyone tell me if there is a programme/website that I can basically cut and paste the ingredients from a recipe or meal plan and it will be recognised by the programme and will be added to a shopping list?
If it links to a shop that I can have a delivery so much the better?

If not - there should be!!!! I put the patent rights onto the idea!:D

Thanks

I love shopping. Online supermarket browsing is brilliant and you can cull the trolley when you have "finished". I think there is a link with the good food website?

Hello sisbod, sounds like you need to be more positive and put a smile on your face :). Look to see what you have in the cupboards first before buying in more food.

My good advice = have a veg steamer and George grill out on your kitchen counter. I use mine more than the cooker.

Go whoopsie shopping, some foods are reduced more than others but it will bring a variety of food.

Hi, If I may say so, it sounds as if you are over thinking it all and getting stressed out by it :)

Receipes and websites for one is just hard work, and no need, unless you are going to tell yourself that "that meal was lovely and thanks for all the hard work" :D

Just write a list with good old fashioned (Old Style ;) ) pen and paper. Days of the week, meal next to is, and make it jacket spud with something on the top not a receipe with a thousand ingredients, none of which you have in!

Then put potatoes and topping on shopping list and carry on from there.

Thanks everyone for your feedback -

Pee - shopping is my idea of hell!!!! I keep trying to do the online thing but it is such a pain and I become intimidated by the price tag!

GA I seem to vary from just buying the yellow stickers and timing any shopping around that however the bargains are rarely bargains but they do make me think about what I can do to ring the changes of food options! To thinking that if I keep to the menu plan it works out cheaper.

L32 I do tend to overthink things - I have tried to meal plan for a month and then buy according to the list generally this does sort of work BUT I then get in a tiz when the list becomes too long and then leave stuff like the nice things like deserts and side dishes which make a meal!

This is going to be compounded when I start trying to eat healthier - I was following the principles of http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/recipe-risiebisi.html?opt=rdinner however when I cooked for 4 as in the recipe it would only last 3 and it was not always successfully freezable! and reducing the amounts or frequency trashed their shopping list over time!!!!!

I must sound very negative but the shopping issue is getting worse - clothes shopping can literally put me into scared rabbit in the headlights mode and tears and tantrum are a common feature!

Do you all think that maybe I am trying to plan too far ahead?? and that as a result the list is too long? Im trying to be solution focussed!

On a positive front I regularly use a slow cooker for bendy veg and chicken carcass soup/stew ( depending upon on the fluidity of the outcome!:rotfl:) bolognaise and chilli con carne. I am also very good at being the one who inherits food that is 'inedible' by relatives!

Family do see me as the freezer queen as EVERYTHING has been through the freezer either before or after the processing! :T

Anyway I am guessing that the original question has highlighted my need to bite the bullet and accept that I need to diet /menu plan and write down the list and keep it short and simple!

Do an inventory of your cupboards and fridgefreezer, and think what meals you like that you could use the stuff you have in for a base for and then go from there with what you need to buy in. Join the meal planning thread if you are stuck and need ideas. What healthy eating/slimming plan are you hoping to follow?

If it's all to overwhelming I'd suggest that you do a weekly meal-plan. I think I'd find a monthly one too depressing and constricted. I pop out to the market on a Saturday, see what decent deals they are offering and then plan my meals around what I've bought.
