O/S DAILY Saturday 23rd March

Options
O/S Daily Saturday 23rd March This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

Morning Halight and all who cross/follow
I woke up at 5, stayed in bed for an hour but couldn't get back to sleep so got up.
DW emptied, WM on, fish fed, it's cold & wet out, the snow is due at 7 this morning, brrr, we will see if it arrives or not. I don't need to go out today, I topped the car up with petrol yesterday, bought bread & eggs as I feel like doing some baking this weekend. I have a pork joint & a gammon joint in the freezer, I'll see which one hubby fancy's & then cook it whilst I'm baking.Malaysian GP tomorrow, the qualy is on in an hour or so, I'll take hubby a cuppa & a bacon roll to eat whilst he watches it.
No real plans this weekend, gardening needs doing, but it's too cold & wet, hey ho, roll on spring!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Need to tidy up when I get back and do some washing

[QUOTEThe 3 naughty little pets are, rather were, I keep forgetting there are only 2 now, rescue ferrets. We fell in love with ferrets when our friends brought two home from holiday in Devon and eventually ended up with another half dozen collected on their travels. Though I had always loved them since I was a child and my mum's friend's sons used to keep a collection of ferrets and polecats in their converted coal house!

I know some people don't like ferrets. People think they smell and they are vicious but they get a bad press, they really are funny, loving, affectionate and intelligent ... and very, very naughty!

We have had many pets, when I was a child, my grandparents had a shire horse, an old English sheepdog and a goose. We had lots of dogs and cats and fish and hamsters and gerbils and rabbits.

This is our furbaby, we lost yesterday][/QUOTE]

    Great Photo :j:j

You know its very strange that you keep Ferrets,

Iv wonted One, Or at least played with the idea around In my head about having one for a couple of years now.

Well Like many men I play will all sorts of ideas In my head about things that i would like, New hobby's that I might like to take up.
Most never lead any were, Just something that I fancy but never do anything about,

Then from time to time, I do take a new hobby up, Like Chicken keeping, Start that coming up for 18 months ago now, And I really wish I had started that long before I did,

I had toyed then looking Into keeping Chickens as far back as Summer 2007, But My wife was not very keen to tell tell you the truth, I would buy Mags and Book's from time to time, To read about them, And learn about them, Many over the winter months when there was nothing else to do. What got me onto chicken keeping, is ll the garden mag's for the Veg growing started to do a few pages of "The Good Life" And Chicken's In the Garden sort of stuff, i use to buy "Grow your own" Mag every months. I think that was the one that started it off,

Anyway, A few week's ago, I started to really play with the idea of having a ferret, Well not one but two, I have a book about them that Iv been reading,

My wife Is not 100% keen, well not even 50% keen, She will come around, Just take a bit of time. :D

(I plan Hestering 6 months In advance) :rotfl::rotfl:

They were something, i was planning on treating myself too after Id had my op and was feeling better again, And back earning money,

I also, Would like the girls to have a pet they could play with a bit, The cats and the chickens don't really play that much,

I would go about it by trying to give two a new home from a rescue, I have already looked into this and while our local ferret Rescue group, Is not at the moment running (Don't know why) There are others that are members of the same charity In my area that are open and running and looking for homes.

So it turns out to be a small world again, Made even smaller my be internet :j:j

    Morning everyone

Halight - pleased to hear you got a good night's sleep with little disturbance and pain, may be you're on the right path now!

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dull, cloudy, no snow but still bitterly cold here this morning. According to the weathermen we could possibly have had/going to get a light snow covering - this hasn't arrived as yet - but the sky looks full of snow - think it may be a bit like yesterday where we kept getting a very light snow shower then as quickly as it started it stops.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken pieces, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk, and I had cottage pie, veg and gravy (made the cottage pie from LO lasagne meat base and LO mash potato from the fridge - DH not over keen on it - but said last night how nice it looked and why had I got that and not all of us? Will get it put on the list for a day when I need to have something that I can organise in advance to just put in the oven and heat. Had a lovely couple of glasses of chilled chardonnay with my dinner last night, was really relaxed and chilled - went upstairs after dinner to change into my pj's and sat down on my bed, next thing I remember is waking up on top of the bed in the dark so jumped into bed and slept until DH came to bed (evidently he'd fallen asleep on the sofa and woken up when he'd got cold at stupid early o'clock) - did manage to get back to sleep but woke early for me. I have been really busy on these days' off and don't seem to have stopped. Hopefully won't be too busy this weekend and I can chill a bit.

Was reasonably productive yesterday - car was serviced and passed MOT, so that's 1 car sorted just mine to go, that's being done in a couple of weeks. Did my jobs in town and food shopping - spent a bit more food shopping than I wanted but did do a good shop and made use of the £5 off voucher from Thursday's paper, so was pleased about that. Had already done a menu plan too, so was accurate with what I was buying not just being random stuff - then realising when I got home I didn't really have anything to make a meal! Did some baking too, made a doz maids of honour and a doz almond tarts - this won't be enough to last the week but was thinking of cooking something else today or tomorrow - may make another sponge - jam and cream. Today DH and I have to go to next town to take some papers to a bank to do with him being a cheque signatory, we then have another caravanning job to do - to go and collect some equipment.

Have just looked out of the window and the promised snow has now arrived - it's snowing steadily but looks quite wet and as soon as it's hitting the ground is melting - hopefully it will stay this way and not lay.

Keep safe and well, take it steady those with snow x

    Morning everyone,

Halight Glad that you got a good nights sleep. I was woken at 6 30 by OH's alarm that he had forgotten to switch off. He went back to sleep, I didn't!

    TTFTM Hugs for you.

Haven't been posting for a while as work has been really busy and all my spare time seems to have been taken up with moving children around.

We are at school all next week apart from Friday and I just can't wait until the end of term, we have booked 2 days in London the week after and I am looking forward to that, really want to see a show but finding one we can all agree on may be difficult. We are staying in a youth hostel, we have got a private room for all 5 of us together and it wasn't too expensive.

It snowed all day here yesterday but none of it settled, however I woke up this morning to a winter wonderland and the snow is still coming down fast, I am glad that everywhere I have to go today is within walking distance.

Tea tonight is something with mince.

Have a lovely day everyone and stay warm.:)

    Morning all,

It's awful weather, blowing an absolute gale and sideways snow. We've had about 7cm in the night but I think the wind is the worst thing. The perfect day for having a day at home in your pjs with a roaring fire.
Unfortunately I have been up all night with toothache so back to the emergency dentist for me, again, hopefully they will put a proper filling in this tooth and it will settle. Words cannot express how fed up I am of illness, and pain, just one thing after another..........
In other news I plan a good clean through and lots of ebaying. I don't have anything on at the moment and the extra money really comes in with us being on such a tight budget so shall remedy that later. Dh is gonna help me take the pictures which is always a bit of a faff but fine afterwards and its pretty easy to list on the IPad.
If I get chance later and I feel in the right frame of mind ( I love baking but have to feel good or nothing turns out well, when I'm happy and calm I make beautiful cakes:A) I want to fill the tins with ginger cake for hubby and brownies for my youngest. I am also going to bake an Easter cake. Gooey chocolate fudge with little chocolate eggs which I picked up yesterday in. mr A.
Nmlc I'm another one who has a voucher for £5 which I shall use next week. Has anyone else notice the price of butter has come down again. It was up to £1.19 but down in Ald! Yesterday to 98p only a small saving I know but every little helps.
I have my gang coming for an Easter lunch this week instead of next. I'm going to make roast pork and all the trimmings and then we shall have Easter cake and cream or ice cream for pud.
I have had some lovely news from Australia. I promise to share on Wednesday after I've had the thumbs up xx
Anyway off to wait until 9 when the dentist opens.
Please stay safe and warm today whatever your up to x
