    Morning all,
I been MiA for ages and haven't even been able to catch up, been so busy with DGD's and loads of other stuff but still being OS. DH is watching GP qualafying sat next to me with his hed phones on as I can't stand the constant woom woom.
Up at 5.30, dw and wm emptied and a pan of spicy carrot, tomato and lentil soup simmering. Vacumed and polished d/stairs yesterday so upstairs will be done today. Still loads of ironing piled up.
DD2 is dropping off DGD2 and DGD3 at 10am so she can take DSiL2b to hospital to have his wisdom tooth taken out, it's deep rooted and they have to cut away his gum and stitch, he's having anesthetic so he can't drive.
I'll make a cauli and broccoli cheese bake for their lunch as he wont have much trouble eating that, he doesn't like soup.
Sirloin steak for dinner tonight with all the trimmings, it was half price at Mr T's a while back so I stocked up. Must get the joint of beef out of the freezer for roast tomorrow.
Off to try and catch up on here.
  • Good morning everyone :)

We have lots of snow and it's really bright. I mistakenly thought it was sunny. Sky looks full of it so I think there is more on the way.

Halight - ferrets make wonderful pets but if you want the twins to be able to play with them, you need to get them young as possible so they get used to being handled. Rescue centres often have kits but they won't release them until they are old enough to be neutered, which should not happen until they are 6 months old. 3 is the ideal number as 2 means if you lose one, the remaining ferret will pine for his/her companion, and can sometimes even die of grief. We have noticed that our remaining two are very quiet and cuddly and close at the moment, like a family would be after losing someone. Our three had been together at the rescue and obviously since we have had them at home, so we wouldn't introduce a new ferret to the group. Sadly one of the remaining two is old, and showing it, and we are not sure how much longer she will be with us the we will have to decide what to do about more :(

Thanks everyone for the kind comments on the photo, it's a typical example of ferret fun and naughtiness - there's a Christmas tree, let's go and climb it :rotfl:

House needs a massive tidy so I better get on to that, am off for a few days because DH had broken up for Easter so at least we don't have to think about work in this weather. Have pulled pork marinated and in the slow cooker, so that should feed us in a variety of forms for the next few days.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Hi all

Hope you are safe, warm and well today. As promised, we luckily escaped any snow and it was/is just a bit blustery here. Watched Sky News last night and some of the places they were reporting from looked like they had it really bad!

The wine & cheese party last night was a huge success with loads of money raised for Water Aid. I'm now sick of the sight of cheese though!:rotfl:

Today is food shopping (don't need much), cutting up paper for next months WI meeting (we're doing origami), housework, stuff to list on ebay and (if there's any time left) crochet more of my shopping bag. Tea tonight is hot dogs & onions in buns with chips (haven't had hot dogs in YEARS!) :)

I may do some baking today - feeling the urge! I made another £37 on ebay last night so looking good for making it to the end of the month in a solvent state again. Isn't it true that life IS like a rollercoaster? All ups and downs but they SEEM to even each other out in the end... How philosophical for his time on a saturday morning! :D

Julie67. I know that British Gas are funding a free scheme for exterior cladding for those with no cavity (irrelevant of if you work or are on benefits - it is free). Apparently it is all part of an EU directive that a certain percentage of UK houses have to be energy efficient and the EU fines if they don't comply will be A LOT more than the cost of the government funding it themselves. I must say that it made a VERY pleasant surprise for us workers to be getting something free for a change.:). Perhaps you could try contacting British Gas first to see if they have a similar scheme for those WITH cavity walls?

    Morning all
About 3" of snow here, still snowing but very finely. Roads not too bad as we are flat here. ((Hugs)) to those in bad hit areas, and without power.

Headlight - glad you slept, hope it continues.

Last night was Toad in the Hole with YS Sausages, new pots, carrots, LO sweetcorn (from the night before's Salmon with Pasta & Creme fraiche, had no peas so added some sweetcorn) and frozen Cauliflower made into Cauli Cheese. Trying to use up some of the freezer ;). Enough left for today too.
DH just going to go snow clearing and letting Skye have another play in it. Need to get some bits out of the caravan freezer, which we left on until I had eaten up what we had in thawed/fresh.

Also made a loaf yesterday, which was ready at lunch time, so fresh cooked bread and jam was yesterday's lunch. Half a loaf left for today, I make the smallest size as not big bread eaters. Will have to do some shopping before long, as now out of eggs, and will need potatoes & veg soon, but will try to wait until Tuesday. My freezers and store cupboards really need a good use up. Must start list making, but not sure I dare share it, it will be a long list!!

TTFTM sorry to hear of your loss. Know how we have become attached to Skye. She is 11 months now. Need to get her more of her monthly Advocate, has anyone tried asking their Vet for a prescription to buy in line?

((Hugs)) to the poorlies, poorly relations, those in pain, or just fed up. Take care everyone. DG

Good Morning all, well we have a sprinkle of the white stuff at the moment and its only just about covering the ground, but its bitter cold and a nasty wind is blowing. I stuck my nose outside the door to see how cold it was and decided that a day indoors baking was far more sensible than falling over outside in the slipppery bits . I have a walking stick that I have to use for my mobility, and it was only on Thursday that I made the mistake of removing my gadget from the bottom that works as a claw -ike grab for snow and ice. My cousin in Canada sent it to me several years ago and its brilliant if you have to use a stick as its a mini grab which is good as the rubber tip on a stick can be lethal I think I may have to get it out and put it back on my stick again for a bit longer.:):)
Still ,being at home means I will be baking and I'm making a lemon drizzle cake and some chocolate brownies and some cookies for my DGS.
Then I shall put my feet up and have my wireless on and spend the afternoon knitting My idea of perfect bliss
Hope you all have a good day and stay as safe as you can.If you don't need to go out then stay at home out of the cold and snow and ice, far safer
Cheers chums roll on the summer

P.S. Having got my lovely new bathrobe I was wondering what to do with the tatty old one.I might just cut it up into squares for cleaning and dusting with It really does hold a lot of static and I would hate to just bin it.

    Hello all!
Had a lovely lunch yesterday with my friend, but it was freezing and the wind as howling, so was home by 6, unheard of!
The snow is off just now, but from the look of the sky its only temporary! Will root out something from the freezer for dinner, WM is on load number 3 as DS came home soaked to the skin last night after rolling about in the snow....thought they stopped all that malarkey when they grow up:rotfl:
Won't be moving far today, will either be a lazy afternoon or another foray into the tip that is my bedroom with the bin bags, although god knows when I will get to the tip with rubbish. Need to empty the car of gibble too, ready for the new one, but too cold for that!
Have a good day all, and stay safe!
    RIP Iain

    Afternoon just,

Thanks for the advice, I will check it out. Nmlc we are on family tax credit with my youngest being at 6th form, shall check out government schemes and British gas.
Back from the dentist, I have had a root filling, well the first appointment I have to go back early April for the final dressing. I'm all numb at the mo but my dentists suggested 1000mg of paracetamol combined with 400mg of Ibrufen for pain, every 6 hrs. He said it will hurt like the devil for a couple of days but should settle down after that. I'm on the couch under my quilt while the boys run around doing the usual Saturday cleaning and washing, I could get used to this:D
Going to have a nap now to catch up from last nights no sleep.
SIstercas, great pic. I've no idea how to post a pic on here and I've given up trying. Have a good day all x
