Meal Plans W/B 18th Feb
Another week of successful meal planning in our house this week though there were a couple of minor alterations but nothing drastic. Food budget came in 65p under budget for the week so happy with that. Plan for this week starting Saturday Saturday - Tuscan Sausages and Rice (using a free maggi cook in the bag mix) Sunday…

Meal costing - shock tactics!
I had a thought last night which will hopefully help me to be much more aware of the cost of what I cook. It involves a marker pen, a camera and possibly a camera/computer access so not particularly high tech. Next time I go food shopping, each item is going to be labelled in permanent pen with the cost...so for instance,…

Please help me feel better about this
I've just gone outside to the freezer (in my brick shed) to get something out for dinner tomorrow. Found that everything was mostly defrosted :( It had about £30 worth of meat (although they were woopsie finds) and 4 meals i had batch cooked a couple of days ago. Can't even cook any of it as i have no idea why my freezer…

Hi all, I brought a leg of lamb on friday with todays date on it, I split it in half and put one half in the freezer and left one half all wrapped up in the fridge for our valintines meal. It smelt ok, so i cooked it, but after eating a few slices, it has a very strong after taste, not a lamby taste, IYKWIM.! so was it…

Cake cooked in a breadmaker
Has anyone baked a cake in a Panasonic breadmaker? Today I baked a coffee and pecan cake following the recipe in the Panasonic 2500 breadmaker manual. The resulting cake was a disappointment. Firstly it took an extra 40 mins to cook on top of their suggested 1 hour baking time and more worryingly on removing the cake from…

Soggy Bottom
I cook lots of things from scratch but I don't make pastry pies, I buy them... The problem is that even though I cook according to instructions (and my oven is pretty reliable I think), the pastry bottom is most often undercooked and horrid to eat. Is there anything I can do, higher or lower shelf? or anything you can…

Superglue on skirt!
Well, nail glue actually, doing a quick repair in the car and managed to get a dollop of glue on my jersey skirt. It's set solid and very dark. Any ideas of how it could be removed or have I ruined it? Thanks! [threadbanner]box[/threadbanner]

Sharpie Stain on Cream Curtain :(
Just put up new (dry clean only) mainly cream curtains and my son has made a one inch long mark on one of them with a green sharpie pen. I've had the curtains and matching bedding stored in a cupboard for over a year while I saved up for a new mattress so I know that the curtains are discontinued and can't be replaced. :(…

Chicken Sausages
OH & I don't eat red meat. Until recently we could buy chicken sausages from MR T but they have discontinued them. I have checked local butchers but they don't think there will be much demand. (Probably why MR T has stopped.) Any suggestions please? We are actually looking at a kit but I am worried that we would have to…

Any suggestions for cakes suitable for posting airmail?
My husband has an elderly relative who lives in France. She isn't really into presents but loves receiving home-made cakes or biscuits. At Christmas, for example, I usually send a big piece of Christmas cake. However, I am a bit stuck for ideas on what else to send her. The post takes 3 days so the cake has to be good for…
