O/S Daily Wednesday 13 February

O/S Daily Wednesday 13 February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning chums ,blimey old riley its fair brass monkeys out there this morning Brrrr.Definitely not time to be casting clouts today.I am off to Maidstone today with my DD as she wants to get her nails done so i shall be wrapping up with layers to keep the cold out.Start of Lent so no sweeties, chocolates or puddings from now until Easter,oh well it will not hurt for a little while.I shall just have to eat more fruit and veg.Especially fruit I think Aldi has pineapple on their special this week and I love that chopped up into cubes and put in the fridge I can graze on that for a change :):)
I have the builder in decorating my hall and stairs so its a bit messy here at the moment but the end result will be nice and I love the smell of a freshly painted house.

  • Morning Halight & all who cross/follow
I may not be able to post for the next couple of days as I'm babysitting the DGC straight from work 'til very late today and tomorrow as DD & SIL are on an exhibition stand for the next 2 days, I shall be on my knees by Friday. Roll on half term!
I have a list of jobs to do over half term, but at least I can do them at my own speed, interspersed with lots of tea.
    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

    RE, Yellow sticker stuff.

Back at the end of 2008 when I first started to put a few posts on this daily thread, There was always quite a lot of talk about yellow sticker goods.
people would post up what bargains they had got late at night or on there way back from work.
Not a lot of that sort of thing now on here. I know that over time talk on line changes as it has on this thread. But everyone will loves a bargain! And when someone dose find a good deal or a bargain they do still share the news,
I think the lack of yellow sticker chat is more down to the fact they most of us are finding less and less of these goods In the shops!
More and more people In this country are having to cut back, So more and more people are now going after any yellow sticker items, That only a few years ago they would have just walked past and not even have had a look.

Good news that there will be less food going to waste.
Bad news for us that wont and need a good bargain,

    Morning All,

Cold here today. Had a good few hours with Auntie and Uncle yesterday.

DD had another scan yesterday. They say it is a big baby, but everything is okay. Now changed the date to 21st August. It'll come when it's ready!:rotfl:

Popping up to see Dad today. Social Services have taken over his care package now. Still waiting for them to confirm that they will be paying though. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care who pays as long as it's not him. I've got £18000 left out of £90000. The rest has gone on care home fees:mad: I want to keep the rest for Dad to have what he wants now. After all if you can't have it at 80 when can you?

On a fasting day today. Put a pound on yesterday:o, but I'm still less than three weeks ago!
    I haven't fallen recently either:T
    (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need them

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, cloudy and dull but looks dry underfoot with no frost here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Both boys still fast asleep in their pits - so enjoying the peace!

I also always look at the YS section in the fridges at our SM's there's always plenty in them but they are never reduced by much and I don't feel they still are worth how much is still being charged - I've never managed to get a really good bargain as they only every knock 20/30p off. Although I did once get some good YS on bread/bakery items at MrT where rolls/bagels/pittas etc had been reduced to 20p/30p a packet.

Yesterday was nowhere near as busy as Monday at work but did have a while over lunchtime when everyone seemed to come in together. Just working until lunchtime today then on days off - have the electrician visiting this afternoon to give us a price for how much the electrical work is going to cost for our refitted bathroom - hoping it's not going to be too expensive as I want to get going with the work shortly!

Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk and jacket potato, salad and tuna mayo for me, dessert from tins/fridge. Tonight I don't have a clue what we will be eating but will organise this later, had planned to have stew and dumplings but decided to do that tomorrow as valentines dinner and it's DH's favourite - have all the meat etc in the freezer so will defrost that later. Will have a look in the fridge/storecupboard in a minute and see if I can make something out of supplies already in so no visit to the SM needed - will try to be as OS as possible.

Will make a start on the normal list of chores when I get home from work today and of course flylady.

Head in a bit better place later yesterday and this morning - will see how I go and keep taking the additional vits/minerals etc.

    Keep safe and well x
