Crafty People - what have you made?

This is for all of the crafty MSE's out there.

I have a list of things I am going to have a go at making and creating, some very simple, but I am a complete newbie and need a place to start.

I was just wondering what have you created/made? Can you share tips, ideas, instructions to make something or just advice? Can you share photos of your creations?

I am making Sunday's my crafty/project day, so need ideas for things to try once my list is complete!

Please share, the more ideas the better.

oh lord where do I start? I have made all the day invites for my sons wedding in June and am waiting for DIL to decide on the evening ones - gave her five different designs on Sunday and she has taken them home to ponder on her preference.
I am learning KUMIHIMO and am getting addicted to it! (thats a japanese technique for braiding) I have made numerous bracelets, handbag charms and a few necklaces but its costing me a fortune in beads, rattail and findings! once you start making the braid your fingers learn the technique and your mind is free to wander! very Zen like!
  • I have a very small craft business making jewellery and accessories out of mini Hama beads (mainly video game related things!)
I also crochet and I'm in the process of making 2 baby blankets for my twin cousins - their wives are both having baby girls due 6 weeks apart! I'm also crocheting my own ripple blanket!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j
  • I'm not the world's best crafter but I love it all the same! Mostly I sew but will try anything - origami, decopatch, knitted beaded jewellery are a few of the things I've tried. Some things turn out not as expected, some better as expected, it's all learning! I'm particularly interested in recycling / repurposing / upcycling (very MSE!!) and am addicted to pinterest for ideas and inspiration (again, varying in success!)
What kind of things are you thinking of starting with?

I love learning new crafts and have a room stuffed with 'craft stuff'! I also knit and crochet tho I have to limit my time doing this as I have probs holding needles and hooks for long periods! even so I have made about three crochet blankets since October (just doing an hour or so a day), and love to make little outfits for granddaughters Annabbel dolls (hint, patterns for prem babies fit these dolls really well)
I also do parchment craft - but again find it difficult because of my hand. but the results are so beautiful I will 'do' special cards using this craft.
I am finding that as the grandkids grow up they ask to be taught the crafts they see me doing. I also love teaching - I taught a craft class for a charity for some time! and sometimes only learned something the day before teaching it! lol. I would say to anyone 'if a craft 'takes your fancy' - have a go! lots of tutorials on Youtube and it isnt always expensive to start if you buy a 'kit'.

I make sock monkeys for people/kids. People always request them, and they're so simple/cheap to make.

I'm making a draught excluder for my front door and living room door at the moment (crochetting, then I'll get some old fabric, make it into a sausage shape and stuff that then put that in the crochetted bit so that the stuff can't poke out the holes :) )
  • lots of craft people over on the occassions board
