O/S Daily Thursday 14th February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Another bad night with Molly dog:undecided I think I am going to have to do controlled crying with her but I was always useless at that with my kids as Im such as softie. Anyhow she is being a little monkey but she is getting older now so I guess i will just have to monitor the situation. She is fine once she is ensconced on a human's bed (either DD or mine) and snores the night away:rotfl:

Dry but chilly here this morning.

Not much to report here this morning,

I'm just on my first Mug of coffee of the day.

My wife has work this afternoon but will be at home this morning. So we will see each other today for a couple of hours.

Tonight she has her choir practice, So I will only see her for about an hours later.

Not much On for me today. I have some tiding to to. There's always tidying to be done around here. No matter how much we tidy the place still looks like a tip!

I hope that you all get a card or least something nice from someone who you are close too,
My wife and I have just done cards this years.
When we were younger and had money we did make more of a thing about about. Inc Gifts and a meal out.
Still we have been together now 12 years years, And with money tight for us. It's hard to even bother to think about it all.
Dam Rip off if you ask me. just a day that got pushed on us to make us spend money on cards and crap in between the slow months of Christmas and Easter !

Morning chums hope you got a card or two Halight;)

My late OH was extremely soppy when it came to Valentines day I met him the Christmas before and we married on the 16th February He had tried for the 14th but it was all booked up,so we always gave each other a card, and I still have them in a box on top of the wardrobe.Some years they were very beautiful ones when we had more cash at times than sense:D, and some years they were plainer as money was tight, but when talking to my DD yesterday she said her abiding memory of her Dad and I was that we would always hold hands, and he never came in or out of the house without kissing me.
She used to say we were the original love birds and when her friends parents rarely did anything tactile she said you two were soppy about each other.
To me he was a smashing chap who I still miss even though it will be 10 years this year since I lost him.OK I know a lot of stuff is rubbish, and folk sneer at the 'commercialisation' but far better to tell someone something nice and loving, and if it keeps the spark alive its good.

In the middle of the freezing cold weather of February I can't think of anything nicer to cheer someone up than a card saying how much your loved and cared for.So even if you can't afford a card, and your OH drives you up the wall at times, today for a change just think back to how you felt when you had that fluttery feeling in your tummy ladies (and gents of course) and it wasn't indigestion;) but you had met the person you most wanted to be with and give them a hug and tell them how much you love and care for them and appreciate what they do for you
You may be pleasantly suprised at the result;).One day that person may not be there to tell for what ever reason:( so make the most of to day and spread the love and happiness:D

And moving onwards its cold wet and windy here at the moment and doesn't look as though its going to brighten up much.My builder is starting the painting of the door frames and woodwork today so the house will soon start smelling nice and fresh for the spring.I am not going out today, I am going to sit and watch some catch-up t.v. and do some knitting before that I want to re-do my freezer list to stocktake on what I have in there.
Apart from that its going to be a lazy day not doing much No point putting the washing on as its too damp to hang out, and definitely no point hoovering with all the dust and mess from the builder, so its going to be a quite feet up day just making tea for said builder and very little else

Had a nice card from my hubby, I thought I had a spare one but I didn't so he got a postcard with Paris on:o very money saving:D
Will potter at home today, need to do some washing and have a bath. Will pop to the bank later, but no tea to cook as dh is cooking:j
No snow here this morning, the rain has washed it all away.

OH's card arrived yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous!:T
When we first met he sent me a funny birthday card and I got cross, and said I didn't like them. Now we have a joke about it, he always goes out to find me the sloppiest card he can!:rotfl: I love em!

We are going out to dinner with two other couples tonight. WSe are all close friends and it is one of the men's birthday too, so that will be nice.

Don't appear to have lost any weight at the moment, but I did lose 10lb in two weeks, so I suppose it will slow down now.:o

Cleaner due soon. I love my lady, she will do anything I ask, including gardening, taking down curtains, etc. A gem as they say:T

Got to see if they have found Dad a new room at the home. He is being kept awake by a lady of 93 who has dementia. Not her fault, but it's getting to him, a lot.

DH and I decided not to buy cards this year, we know we love each other and he makes me feel like every day is Valentine's Day.

Jackie O, that was a very touching message and reminds me so much of what my daughter says about us. People in work laugh at us, as my DH kisses me when I am getting out of the car. We don't care

Off to the doctors now so will leave with well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day

Morning everyone:) Happy valentines day!
Came downstairs this morning to find hubby had left me 2 bunches of flowers and a note saying "will you be my valentine" Aw bless! We don't do the big romantic stuff but the little gestures (to me) mean so much more.
Jackieo - what a lovely memory for your daughter to have of her daddy I hope you have a nice day.

Having a day catching up with paperwork and housework. Gonna be a loooooong day, lol :eek:
