We have just got back from shopping and I must confess to picking up a lot of extras for the store cupboard and freezer.
I have noticed that a lot of Aldi prices are going up and up and now their cheap baileys has gone from £3.99 to £4.15 (I don't think that I am supposed to drink it now, but is still blooming annoying)
It has been raining here on and off all morning, but it is dry at the moment and I have just planted my blueberry out and will pop it in the shed overnight until all danger of frost is gone.

Rosy........ So sorry to hear about Leo :(:(
Mega ((((((Hugs))))) for you and the family x

    Morning all!
Rosy, sorry to hear about Leo, big hugs.
Bit of a bittersweet day, although we didn't really "do" Valentines Day other than cards, because today is DD's birthday, 23, so hard to imagine that all those years ago I was in labour for the day whilst everyone else was getting roses and chocolates, still think my "valentina" was the best gift!
Feel for her today, I can remember how I felt on my first birthday without my dad, but I am sure she will be spoiled by her boyfriend later!
So, once I have finished feeling sad, will finally get dressed and buy myself something nice for dinner, will be home alone as DS is working tonight!
JackieO, couldn't agree more, even when we had a little falling out OH never left home or came back in without giving me his customary 3 kisses and telling me he loved me, and its things like that I miss so much, we never realise what riches we have in our lives till they are taken away from us. I hope everyone who can will tell their loved ones what they mean to them today, that means so much more than red roses or chocolates!
    Have a good day all!
    ELACLA happy anniversary!
    RIP Iain

    Hi all

Quick post, between Mary's comfort-breaks and meal times. I shall be catching up with the tail end of yesterday as well as reading today.:o

Monnagran when sewing up a knitted a garment I always used to get a load of large safety pins and pin the pieces together first, to make sure I had everything in the right place. Tbh, I haven't knitted for ages – last thing was a few years back, I made a jumper for Mr LW. I currently have wool, a pattern and even the buttons for a waistcoat – I bought the wool and buttons in 2007, and finally found a suitable pattern online some time last winter. Trouble is, it's for me, so more important things invariably take precedence.

RosyRed I am so very sorry;:( it's awful at the time, but you know you did the best for your lad. Sleep well, lovely Leo.

Molly what is controlled crying, please?:o

JackieO as always, you speak a lot of sense! My family and the XH were none of them at all tactile/demonstrative, (apart from both my father and the XH taking delight in beating the living daylights out of me, but that's another tale....) and it took me a while to adjust to Mr LW, who is now he's the only person I can stand touching me in any way at all – I even dislike shaking hands with anyone else.

I haven't been able to get out anywhere to get Mr LW a card (it's awkward anyway, as he's also my carer, and has to push my wheelchair whenever we're out) but I may try and do one on the PC later if I can get it to play nicely.;) I've had a card, a bouquet of roses – mixed colours, very pretty on my desk – and a box of Belgian chocs. I always take a couple of pictures of any flowers Mr LW gives me, so that we can look at those after the flowers are finished.:D We're having, at his request, Quorn fillets in white wine sauce for dins, followed by some honey fudge from the beekeeper who has a stall at the farmers market by way of a dessert, and there's a bottle of champagne (Mr M's best, lol) chilling in the fridge.:o He'd have liked to go out really, but it's not practical to leave Mary on her own for that length of time. I haven't told him this, but secretly I'm relieved, as I find meals out quite an ordeal these days.

Really though, he shows his love for me every day; I always think he must be an absolute saint for putting up with the amount he has to do for me:eek: – helping me with bathing and dressing, doing the housework tasks I can't manage any more, doing a large share of the food preparation (he preps the next day's veggies and leaves them in a bowl of water, f'r instance) and of course without his assistance, I couldn't manage the dog-sitting.:o

Happy Anniversary to Mr & Mrs ELACLA have a lovely day!

    Jools Have a (((HUG))):o

OK, it looks like it's getting towards time to put my coat on and take Mary-Fairy-Fuzzy-Butt outside yet again; then it'll be time for her lunch. Mealtimes are her favourite times of day!:D

Controlled crying is a technique that works well with children but i also found it worked well with puppies when they first come home. Actually most techniques that work well with dogs work well with children.

Basically doggy bedtime. Doggy has been fed, watered, pee and knows it bedtime - put into bed and snuggled down. Dog gets out of bed and howls, scratches, noses hand. You ignore it for a bit (very hard) then settle doggy again with minimal fuss and eye contact, they may or may not settle but probably not so after 5 mins go and repeat previous routine until they finally settle. Im a wuss and husband had to do this with kids!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Thanks Molly - basically, from the doggy perspective, how I deal with my guests, then!:o They soon learn the ropes, and given a couple of days, know that they're being kept as near to their usual home routine as we can manage, but I'll take no shenanigans.:D

    Hi all,

Molly - have you tried draping a worn peice of your or OH,s clothing over her bed, when Baxter was a (fur)baby, he used to whine for England, but this worked well for us

Jackie O - you made me feel all warm inside, what wonderful memories x

    Jools - ((hugs)) xx

LW - sounds like you picked a goodun x

We,re off out for a meal tomorrow night, and he did make me coffee this morning, but I was at work by 7 so not on the mood for romance LOL

Sweet and Sour chicken for dinner, well it was HP turkey, with HP s&s sauce from Mr L,s not romantic but lush.

I,m off work for 10 days now - yeahhhhhh.......

Have a fab evening all x

I've finished my 2 evenings of babysitting for DGC's I finished earlier than I expected, kids were great, very well behaved for me.
I have had a headache most of the day as my water bottle got thrown away & I didn't take any cash to work so had nothing to drink all day, just had a cuppa when I got in & feel better now.
Work has been horrible, lots of spite and nastiness around, staff having emotional meltdowns, roll on half term
    Have a good evening everyone
    Hugs Hester
