I have 4 carrots, 1 parsnip, 1 1/2 onions and a suede. I also have chicken in the freezer! If I put all that into the slow cooker and switch on about 8ish tomorrow, will it be overdone by 6pm ish or will the veggies turn to much?
oh and should I add anything else?

I'd miss out the suede if I were you, might be a bit chewy...hehehe:rotfl:
You need to defrost the chicken before adding to the slow cooker. What I do is chop up the veg and place in the bottom of the slow cooker. Coat the chicken in flour and pan fry for a few minutes before adding to the veg. Cover with chicken stock. Cook on medium.
If you turn it on in the morning, it should be fine by 6 pm. You might want to cook it on Low, as settings can differ depending on the make of slow cooker. Veg actually takes long to cook than meat in a slow cooker so make sure it is chopped into relatively small chunks.0 -
I always do swede in the SC in casseroles. It's the only way my kids like swede!
It cooks perfectly
I don't like parsnips done in the sc! For me they have to be roasted but everyone has different tastes
I would chuck in a couple of stock cubes too
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Depends, is you slow cooker High and low settings only or High, Low & Auto (where it cooks on high until is sense food is done and then reduces the heat to low).
Either way to be honest 10 hours in a slow cooker is a long while the meat will have fallen off the bone.
It really depends on your cooker and the minimum/ maximum suggested times but I would say 4 - 8 hours on LOW or 3 - 4 hours on HIGHEverything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

I frequently cook things for 10 hours on low... and even longer when I have forgotten about things
Always still been yummy

I'm another that finds veg takes longer to cook than meat. I quite often leave a chicken in SC from 8am - 6pm on Auto and it's fine. Nice and tender, although I tend to put it in by itself with water, leaving me with lovely stock to make soup with.Re-mortgaged 20/04/12 MTiT-T3 No.7Start balance £89611.10 + £22500 = £112111.10/Current balance £85436.53
