Food waste. Help!
Having taken stock of my situation I've trying to fathom out where my money goes. One of the things I've realised I'm overspending massively on is food shopping. There are two/three of us at home (OH is away for 2 or 3 days a week usually). I spend about £65 per week on a big food shop, but then can easily spend £10 at the…

WWYD: lining of skirt falling apart ...
I have a lovely black Jacques Vert skirt with dark red trim, it has a dark red lining. I realised last time I took it off that the lining is falling apart: it's not the stitching coming undone, one of the panels has frayed away from the seam, and it's too extensive to re-stitch it as I think the lining will then be too…

Apps for scanning grocery barcodes
I am about to go through the cupboards to see what we have, and would like to start meal planning. And then I was thinking, are there any nice apps that can make it a bit faster or more fun? Does anyone know an app that lets you scan barcodes, to easily compile a list of all food in the cupboards? And a recipe tool that…

How to keep Cottage Pie "solid" ?
Hi all, I make cottage pie a lot. Love it. But I cannot seem to get it out of the dish in one piece! It seems to merge into a mess of meat and potato! It's still great, but cannot seem to replicate the more solid versions where the meat is on the bottom, and the potato is on the top! I do keep the mince mixture quite…

How much should groceries cost?
I was just wondering how much people think weekly food shopping for two people should cost as I am sure we spend a huge amount although I can't understand why as we don't buy ready meals, snacks, sweets, biscuits, cake or alcohol. Any replies appreciated.

Recipe suitable for chicken portion as well as chicken breast?
Evening all, a couple of weeks ago I bought 4 chicken portions from the butchers and froze 3 of them. The problem is that my OH doesn't like meat 'on the bone', so he won't eat them, so am looking for inspiration! I did a 'chicken dinner' one night, roast portion for me and (boring!) baked breast for OH, but looking for…
