O/ s Daily Tuesday 12 February 2013

O/S Daily Tuesday 12 February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, cloudy and dull but looks dry underfoot with no frost here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Yesterday was a manic Monday - I thought it may be a slow day because of half term which is what normally happens - but it was manic but at least it made the day pass quickly. We'll see what today brings.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage pasta - all eaten and enjoyed with desserts from the tins/fridge etc.

Cold feeling better again today but have a horrible cough that I can't seem to get rid of, DS1 cough seems to be better though.

Head still not in a good place, but I'm just trying to stay focused on the present time and get done what needs to be done without worrying about what may happen/overthinking things etc. I'm trying to do a bit of flylady each day which does help. Have started taking the other vitamins/minerals supplements that I've used before but they do take a while to kick in etc.

    Keep safe and well x

    morning all
bread done and smells lovely. sorted out my bread making problem. it wasnt my panasonic breadmaker it was the cheap flour i was using. went to allinsons and have had 5 perfect loaves in a row. even made this loaf on timer and still perfect. yay.
had a lovely day yesterday. went to see a new baby. my friends daughter has just given birth to a nearly 6 pound baby but it seemed soo tiny. her sister is over from australia with her baby. shes totally lovely as well. then my friends have had their twins....a boy and a girl. it makes me smile every time i think about it :)
today prob meeting my friend and taking the kids to soft play. this will be my only spend this week. ive tried to get a timetable of things for him to do but this mosly includes having friends round. what can you do when the weather is bad and you dont want to spend any money. so this is our one spend this week.
doing really well with my money. got my food costs down from 500 plus to a budget of 250 and its totally doable. we dont starve. we have treats. its fine. thats 2 kids and 2 adults with two extra once a week. and a cat. i have a selection of tins with labels and these are my saving pots which are doing well.everything is on track. its a bad feeling knowing that you cant wander in town and spend 20 quid on rubbish but nothing beats the feeling that i can tell you i have dropped hours so im home more...i dont have a credit card bill and i have small savings. when my savings started off in jan my total was £6. little steps. it means i have to be very strict with myself and my kids but they want for nothing. in fact my ds has stopped asking for stuff when i pop into town. i have spend thousands on moshi monster blind bags for him. they are £2 each and you dont know whats in them but of course its not the monster you want. then they clutter the house up!! hes not even bothered now. its proof that he just picked them up because he could...just like i did with magazines.
anyway. tea tonight is chicken thighs pots and veg and of course pancakes.
    have a good day everyone
  • Good morning! :-) I'm a bit new in here, I am making a conscious effort to start posting a bit more. So here I start :-)

Last night I put some turkey chunks on a low heat with a crushed veg stock cube, browned it/sealed it, whatever it is called. Roughly chopped a few parsnips, a large onion and chopped the remaining mushrooms, put all in the slow cooker with another cube and a lot of water, and left on low heat all night. Haven't went seen what I have yet, I will most likely add more water from the kettle and leave for the rest of the day.
Tonight I'm making pancakes. I recently tried Nadia ex eastender/market kitchen nadia's pancake recipw from her cook book, and it is the first recipe that I have used that gets me lovely American style pancakes.
Off I go now to get ready for work.

    Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone! Do you mind if I join your merry band? I've been using the mse boards for a while now & lurking on this one but since I work mostly from home, I'd love to join in the chit chat :)
Mondays and Tuesdays are crazy busy days for me so just about to get washed and dressed and get started. I've usually done that by now but since the schools are on holiday and I don't need to get the kids up I'm letting myself relax a bit :)
I've just taken some Cumberland sausages out of the freezer -sincerely hopin they're not made of horse but trying not to think about it, lol. I'll have them with mashed potatoes and some sort of veg.
Right, I'd better get started or I'll still be in my Jamie's at lunchtime:)
    Have a good day everyone
  • Good morning everyone :)

It looks quite bright here today ... well there is no rain or snow, so that's a start.

DH is busy stripping the beds for the washing machine before the load of towels and bath mats already in there finishes. I will give them a go on the washing line so fingers crossed for the weather. DH has promised to fill some Oxfam bags for me, so we will do a trp there later.

Slow cooker is on with some chicken thighs with olives and preserved lemons. We will have that with rice or bread and salad tonight and there will be left overs for tomorrow.

Am going to sneak off to finish the chapter of my book before the washing machine finishes!

Welcome to this lovely thread for LolaLemon and MumLady1 :hello:

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly here this morning.
Most of the snow from yesterday has now gone. But there might be more on the way.

Really quick and easy dinner last night for us.

Jacket spuds with Cheese and beans :j:j

Not sure what we will be having tonight. I need to have a think about it.

Twin Two has been doing something called forest school at school.
One afternoon a week they go outside to a "forest area" In the school grounds and do stuff like we use to do as Kids. Build camps play In Mud, Go bug hunting. That sort of thing. It dose not matter what the weather is like they still go out. We have to seend wet weather and cold weather gear with her, both of our Girls do stuff like this at home anyway, Twin two has been really enjoying it and has also got a lot out of sharing her knowledge about Bugs with her friends.
Its all aged based, Twin One will get her turn to do this at some point two. All other age groups are also taking part In it as set time's during the school year. Its a new Government thing that has been set up to get kids to be outside taking risks and enjoying themselves, this to me seems a good idea.
Today is twin twos last day at this, And the Parents have been invited to come to school for the afternoon and enjoy the out door play with there Kids. As My wife is at work this afternoon I'm off to school This afternoon.

Well I hope that you all have a great day,

    Enjoy yourself everyone:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

    Morning :hello:

Bit miffed on sunday morning, there was a 10k race here and there were signs about road closures on one road. There's loads of side streets so we thought we'd be able to use them, but they closed off three main roads, forming a circle and so trapped around 4000 of us in. No-one could get out for around 4 hours and the bus couldn't get further than the end of our road. So 2 big areas of Glos were stuck, hope people needing to get to work had understanding employers. The organisers insist there were leaflet drops and lots of signs, but there weren't.

I've been pretty much copying Lucy from Attic24. I need to put the hooks down, I'm in danger from going from the cuteness of her things to complete naffness :rotfl:

Chickens aren't happy with living in a marsh, I need a few dry, windy days to sort the run out.

Completely hacked off with real life atm – dunno why – so I'm just going to watch tv for a couple of days. New series of my fave programs are starting, Spartacus, Sons Of Anarchy, etc. so will lose myself in them :D

    Morning all,

Bright and breezy here, so wm is on with OH work clothes, much less washing to do while dd is not here, also I find cooking for 2 really strange, you would not think it would make such a difference but somehow it does.

Heard from dd yesterday they had got there after almost 24 hrs travelling, she had not slept at all and was shattered they had put on a grand welcoming lunch which was chicken cabbage and rice, dd being a veggie had rice and cabbage. Her diet while away will mostly be steamed veg, I sent her with loads of packets of noodles etc so she will hppefuly not go hungry.

Cottage pie for dinner will go and make it after this, will go and see my dad later.

    Have good days all xx
