:hello:Welcome Lolalemon and Mumlady1
Rosy sorry to hear that Leo's prognosis is not good, but you can find comfort in the fact that you have given him a loving and comfortable life (((((Hugs))))).
Well the snow is still on the ground and it is Baltic here, I might have to force myself to put the heating on
I really can't wait to get a woodburning stove.
Not much doing today apart from a bit of cleaning which is almost done.
So more knitting is on the cards this afternoon, I can't do much though, until they sort my sight out but luckily I am doing a stocking stitch pattern which I can do with my eyes shut.
Oh well I must get lunch, my meds have increased to two tablets a day from today.

Their is a nursery near here (well within driving distance for a day out haha) and they dont have a classroom as such, they all get tehir own back pack that has their lunch in, out they go and explore all day, wind, rain or shine! I remember reading about one place where they took their own wee hammocks with them and for nap time the adults set up the hammocks, i soo wanted that to be near me, but it wasntMorning all:j:j
Chilly here this morning.
Most of the snow from yesterday has now gone. But there might be more on the way.
Really quick and easy dinner last night for us.
Jacket spuds with Cheese and beans :j:j
Not sure what we will be having tonight. I need to have a think about it.
Twin Two has been doing something called forest school at school.
One afternoon a week they go outside to a "forest area" In the school grounds and do stuff like we use to do as Kids. Build camps play In Mud, Go bug hunting. That sort of thing. It dose not matter what the weather is like they still go out. We have to seend wet weather and cold weather gear with her, both of our Girls do stuff like this at home anyway, Twin two has been really enjoying it and has also got a lot out of sharing her knowledge about Bugs with her friends.
Its all aged based, Twin One will get her turn to do this at some point two. All other age groups are also taking part In it as set time's during the school year. Its a new Government thing that has been set up to get kids to be outside taking risks and enjoying themselves, this to me seems a good idea.
Today is twin twos last day at this, And the Parents have been invited to come to school for the afternoon and enjoy the out door play with there Kids. As My wife is at work this afternoon I'm off to school This afternoon.
Well I hope that you all have a great day,
Enjoy yourself everyone:j:j

RosyRed so sorry to hear Leo's news; lots of healing vibes coming his way - it's true that larger dogs don't have such long life spans, but you know that Leo has had the very best he could ever wish for with you.:o (((HUG))) for you and for Leo.
Re the horsemeat fiasco - I just thank the gods that I'm vegetarian, and if Mr LW has meat if we go out, he has a proper steak (we eat at "good" restaurants on the rare occasions we go, too - no chains, we go to tried and trusted independent places.) In any case, at home I cook everything from scratch, - but even doing that, if you buy a pack of minced beef, can you be certain it only contains cow, I wonder??:( I think the people writing to the papers (and I've seen some posts on MSE in the same vein) saying that horsemeat is perfectly OK, and they eat it abroad, etc etc, yada yada, are missing the point - it's fine if they bought a product knowing it contained horsemeat, but to buy what you think is one thing, is labelled as being the thing you want, and it's actually something else is totally unacceptable. To my mind it'd be the equivalent to buying a bottle of B0llinger, and it actually contained 60% Ast1 Spum@nte.
Sorry I'm not posting much at present btw; - up to my ears looking after Mary; she's very high maintenance; but I don't begrudge her the time and energy at all.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Rosyred hugs for you and for Leo.
Molly and hilstep hugs for you too.
Tina really hope you get to visit your son tomorrow.
LWGlad that you are enjoying Mary's company.
Late posting for me today.
I am at work and have marking coming out of my ears, never mind it is half term next week and a chance for a bit of a catch up.
I am off on a really exciting school trip on friday for 4 days with 22 year 13 pupils. We are going to Geneva to see the Large Hadron Collider!! I am so excited.
You will now have realised that I am a huge geek!!!!
We are also going to a restaurant where there is fondue and yodelling.
Tea tonight is curry made with LO chicken from sunday.
Have a lovely rest of the day everyone.:)0 -
Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome

Hi taplady! Love your picture - I'm a tapper too (or if we're going old style, a hoofer :rotfl:)
I had to write a quick something for distraction. Cutting down on eating rubbish this week and I desperately wanted something sweet with a cuppa. Settled on coffee a banana & a couple of dates - yum. Not quite on the same yummy scale as a couple of chocolate hob nobs but enough to take the edge off :rotfl:0 -

Afternoon all,
Number 2 son came to use the computer this morning. I havent seen him since Christmas eve and although it was good to know he is still ok i still worry about him. He really is such a mess. Talking to him makes no difference, he makes all the right noises but his lifestyle doesnt change. Oh the shame of him turning up on my doorstep at 9am with a bottle of white cider (that he tried to hide in a carrier bag). He is heading down the same path as his older brother and there is absolutely nothing i can do to stop him and he certainly hasnt been bought up in that sort of enviroment.
Moving swiftly on.... Hubby decided to shear the dogs off after our son went. I know its not really the weather but although they are brushed regularly, they have some really bad knots that ive been cutting out but they really do look a mess. Have you ever seen Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with dreadlocks before......? No nor me.
I kid you not, they filled a carrier bag with hair and its taken ages to clean up after them. I needed to trim their claws too. I managed Lucy's ok but Millie has black nails and i cut the one and she jumped a mile. Its really difficult trimming dogs claws when they have black nails cause you cant see the nerve through the claw. I feel a tad guilty now for hurting her and it looks like dragging the dog coats out of the cupboard now for when they go outside for a wee.:D
Other news, hubby is having daily phone calls from the place where he was employed last asking him to come back..... but he wont go to London. The price of decent accomodation is the sticking point and he would have to pay it out of his own pocket. Anyway, hes having enough fun annoying the heck out of me. Still i got my own back last night. I made a quiche and the pastry was a bit rich for his delicate stomach. He'd got raging indigestion all night.

Hi everyone,
Just had a quick sandwich, need to do some banking & emails so thought I'd have a quick look here first. Not much OS going on to be honest apart from cooking from scratch, pork chops with sweet potato wedges & veg for tea last night ,tonight doing a half price leg of lamb, not had that for months.
Most of my time has been spent with Leo,it wasnt good news from the blood tests
.Basically his kidneys are starting to fail.We had to take him back to the vets on Saturday morning when she gave him 3 injections,B12,anti nausea and a steroid to increase his appetite. He ate quite well on Sunday but didnt fancy much yesterday, had some wafer thin ham today.Still wanted his walk this morning though
as soon as he doesn't want to go out we'll have to make the decision, sooner rather than later as there is no way we'll let him suffer.Thats the trouble with big dogs, they don't live as long, but ever since we got him at around 2yrs,despite being maltreated & undernourished by his previous owner:mad: he's always been a gentle giant& he's had a lovely life with us.Better stop now before I make myself cry
I have been making some engagement party invites for DS and his DF,most people will be asked via FB,so its just for people who arent on.They got back from their romantic break in the lakes yesterday and had a great time, just put a bit of a dampener on it when they heard about leodog being ill.Back to reality and work for them today.
Julie-hope your ideas work out and you can earn a bit extra without going back into Ed.
Tina-hope you get to see your son this time.Well done for introducing LolaLemon to us
,welcome Lola,and mumlady
Well wishes to everyone x
Really sorry to read about your Dog.
It's never easy to deal with what needs to be done. I had to do the same with my dog, It was the same with him. His Liver and kidneys were shot. I did not hang around about it.I told that there was not much that could be done. They did say that they could by him some time, That time could have been a couple of weeks or a few months. But that it. By this time he had already started to lose his sight and he was being treated for very bad arthritis In his back legs, The Arthritis on its own was bad enough as he was In pain much of the time, We were giving him pain killers three times every day, But how much of the pain that took away we will never really know. A few days after we were told about his kidneys and liver, I decided it was best to have him put to sleep. I could not let my old friend suffer any more. How ever much I wonted him still around.
I had him when I was 15. he was about 4 years old, He was a rescue dog and we think had a very bad life before he come to live with us. When ever my Mum would pick the broom up to sweep up out side he would blot off somewhere to hide .
I don't ,and have never regretted the decision that I made. It was the right time. Letting him suffer any more would have been wrong.
Only you will know when the time is right. You are the one that spends time with him, Don't anyone talk you in to keeping him alive and don't let anyone talk you in to having him put to sleep.
You will no when the time is right for the both of you.
It's been tens years now since I lost my dog, I would have had another one when my Wife and I moved into this house. But she wonted a cat. So we ended up with two cats.
I will have another dog in time. when the cats have past on.
You can never beat that friendship a dog gives you.
All the very best,:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Judi
