O/S Daily Monday 11 February

OS Daily - Monday 11th Feb 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Now getting light, we've had a light dusting of snow here during the night so everywhere is really white and frosty.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Yesterday was a very chilled lazy day, cooked a lovely lunch, the pork cooked and tasted great - menfolk got their crackling, and there's some LOs in the fridge for another meal.

Still have the cold bug but do feel alot better so will just keep taking the extra vitamins etc for a couple more days - both boys have already had it but now both seem to be suffering again, just as well it's half term they can laze and take it steady. DS1 has the most awful cough - everyone that you speak too seems to have had the bug but recovered but left with an awful cough they can't get rid of.

Dinner tonight will be smoked sausage pasta with creme fraiche, dessert from the tins.

Don't know what work will bring today - hopefully nice and busy to keep me occupied - need to keep myself busy as it stops my mind wandering and overthinking things.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good Morning chums a smattering of snow but barely covers the car and its turning to sleet as I write.I'm off to Blackheath this morning for an OS meeting and really looking forward to it.Tomorrow my builder returns to start on my hall and stairs ,he is redecorating it all for me so a lick of paint and paper will brighten it up a bit.I was going to get a new stair carpet but it means getting my stair lift removed for a short while (costs around £300 to do that ) and then decided that as I am the only one going up the stairs perhaps a good steam clean would be a lot cheaper and as I use my chair to go up once cleaned I won't actually be walking on it anyway So hopefully my lovely Keith the builder can redecorate around it instead.
Tomorrow I am off to Bluewater to meet my old friend and we are going to see 'Lincoln' at the cinema and on Wednesday I am gadding off to Maidstone with DD as she has vouchers she wantsa to use left over from Christmas as do I.
So a busy week all around really.Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit and the slushy white stuff will go away I want the spring and some sunshine please winter has been far too long.
Cheers chums have a great day whatever you are doing

    Good morning all.

We still have some snow, it's settled on the grass and trees, but it's gone from the roads. It's still falling as snow though, rather than sleet.

However, I'll be walking up to the post office soon to post my eBay parcels, and then into housework mode.

At this point I have no idea what is for dinner, I've actually just rreminded myself to get something out of the freezer.

At least snow is not forecast for tomorrow, which I'm pleased about, as I've got an outside activity tomorrow.

We are climbing the roof of the O2 Arena (the Dome) at Greenwich!!

My husbands cousin is 60 tomorrow, and wanted to do something different, and he picked this.

I'm looking forward to it, there are steps, but you have to be attached with a clip and harness, so it's all perfectly safe.

We are getting the train to Stratford International, near the Olympic park, and then I think we get the underground to Greenwich.

I'm going to wrap up warm, because it'll be cold, but I'm quite excited about it all.

    Have a good day

    Morning all,

    Hope you are all well.

My ds2 up early ready for his interview this morning. He was offered the job he went for last week as well so fingers crossed he will be able to choose between the two if this morning goes well:j:D

Hoping to test drive a car this afternoon if dh is back reasonably early. Also expecting something back from SC any day to give us the start date for the DMP. Will be glad when we have a date.

No snow here and we don't want any thank you.
I have decided I am going to try and start looking after myself better. I take far too many painkillers as I always have a headache so have decided I'm going to try and do without for the next two weeks. Apparently you feel shocking at first but much better afterwards. I've read that too many painkillers can actually give you headaches so am going to try and see how I go on.
The other thing I'm doing is stopping having artificial sweeteners in tea and coffee and soft drinks. They also contribute to fibromyalgia and headaches. I'm just fed up of feeling under the weather. I am definitely trying to be kinder to myself.

Ok shall pop over to the DMP support board. Will catch up later.

Goldie the thought of going up high scares me to death I can't think of anything worse:eek: but hope you enjoy the experience:)
