    Morning
Finally back to normal working so can post in mornings instead, will miss the extra pay though, its kept the wolf from the door these last few months. Nice day yesterday, DS to karate, met friend for coffee in Sainsbobs, got DS some new boxers and had £6 off voucher so 6 pairs for £12, didnt think that was bad and better quality than cheap ones so am hoping wear/wash better.
DD made it home with big bag of washing from Uni after a sticky (Sunday timetable buses) start and mad dash to train. Lovely to have her back for couple of days. DS and I miss her and he has carried her bags, been making her coffee etc.
Have to say I was bit like "oh well others eat horsemeat" when news first came out, now its been on the news that the meat that was never meant for human consumption may contain drugs that are possibly harmful to humans, that makes it completely different. Luckily we dont have ready meals, but worry for those that do and for the fact that will we find out that fresh mince etc contains more than beef. I buy British but you never know.
OS DW been on, waiting for DD to get up to put washing on. She is going to make bread in BM. Lunch is sandwiches from leftover chicken from last nights dinner. Dinner tonight will be HM chow mein for chinese new year, didnt have at weekend as was waiting for DD to come home. Was planning to cycle to work, but skies getting greyer by the minute so will have to see.
RR hope your daughter has fab time, my SIL did same thing 6 years ago and had been saving for 10 years to do it. She was so touched that now she earns very good money she has been back every year for her summer holidays.
Time for quick caffeine hit, then must get on with rest of housework.
Have a good day and thoughts to all.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

I am going out to local butcher this morning to get a family pack of bacon, chicken, chops, sausages etc for meals this week.

Any mince in freezer will be used up up but in future will only buy mince from a proper butcher and any YS bargains from a supermarket will only be considered if they are easily identifiable - chicken, chops, gammon etc.

So glad that I have not bought ready meals or burgers for years but disgusted by the greed and lack of morals shown by food producers, chains of food providers etc, It would take a modern day Hercules to clean up this Aegean stable:mad:

Hug to all who are having a bad time of it.

No snow here so taking dd into York later for a quick shopping trip. DH has a la leftover sunday lunch to have when we are out and will make soup later from home made chicken stock and maybe bake a fancy loaf if I feel adventurous.

Everyone wolfed down the apple and plum crumble last night after some home made prawn cocktail and salad with crusty bread.

See you all later as need to catch butchers before they close.

Thank goodness DH covered the fruit trees with fleece last night. You can't see them because the are on the other side of the garden to the left.

DSIL is coming to cut my hair at 1pm, so I am looking forward to that, it has become too long to be manageable so I am going shoulder length, rather than down to my waist

Keep warm and safe all x

Butterfly Brain, that's a lot of snow! It sleeted most of the day here yesterday but didn't come to anything thank goodness although I did see quite a few cars travelling south that had quite a bit of snow on them.

Very quiet day here after a manic weekend, have phoned to have the skip collected, don't think there's room for anything else! Also phoned the Solicitor I would like to act for me in the house sale just to make contact. Apart from that not much happening - not even dressed yet. I have a day off for half term so got up about 7 to make a cup of tea and then went back to bed to read - luxury!

Not cooking today, DD can heat up anything she can find, I will do the same. Did the ironing yesterday, just a tablecloth to do but that can wait till the next time. Will put a wash on in a bit. My best friend, the hoover, isn't well so may look for another online.

Booked flights for our summer holiday, going to use a friend's house in the South of France for a week - very OS!

    Take care. XX

Just got back from local butcher with bag full of sausages, mince, chicken breasts and legs and bacon chops. Also managed to find beast cheeks which I want to try in a stew for DH and me later this week.

DH commented how strange it was not to see meat in plastic but changed his tune when I showed him the weight and quality of it all.

Just about to go out to York with dd as I want a browse around before weather gets bad. Cold here but no trace of snow so far.

Have you tried that menthol stick to rub on your forehead? I tried it once but used essential oil and some got in my eye  By the time I had rinsed my eye with pain oil and jumped up and down a bit I had forgotten about the headache. :o

Think my kettle is falling to its so might look for a new one - oh the glamour of it all!!!

    Hugs to all

    Morning all,

It snowed quite a bit here last night but its already turning to slush and i dont expect it to last long.

Had a lie in this morning. Dogs only got me up once in the early hours so when they wanted to go out at 7am i told hubby it was his turn.:D

Most of my household jobs have been done and ive attacked hubby with the clippers. Ive made a good job (pity i dont like the 'tennis ball' look). I need to go through his work clothes later. Several of his work jeans i noticed have got holes in and i like to send him to work looking half decent (even if he does have a manual job). I'll do it later as he is going out looking at cars again this afternoon. Ive told him i aint going, its too cold for me (and i'm not remotely interested in cars anyway).

Tea will probably be quiche. Wedges for me and 'youngest' and mash for hubby.

Have a good day everyone, wrap up warm and keep safe.

someone was talking about headaches. ...i have headaches nearly every single day of my life. at least 6/7 days. ive had regular eye tests a brain scan etc and now i have just had to learn to live with it. i take far far to many painkillers and have also gone cold turkey for headache pills and although this is 100% true that you can get medicine headaches - i cant cope with out the tablets. i use cold packs 4head and flannels as well as hot water bottles when i lie down. as we speak i just have a slight pain either side of my eyebrows so wont take any painkillers. when its very bad i have an emergency plan. 1 pint of water, 1 cup of tea and a bowl of corn flakes and 2 co codamol. it doesnt always work but nearly always lessons the pain.sleep is also magic.
had lovely roast lamb yesterday. i worked all day yesterday at the job im supposed to have left...well i have 2 tyres to buy for my car!!
been really busy today. made a huge pizza and cheesy scrolls and garlic dough balls for tea. been into town and been to visit a new baby. lovely. some good friends have had twins late last night. a very happy ending as they needed ivf and one had failed so very pleased for them. they will make perfect parents - if there is such a thing.
got half term this week for me and my boy but dd2 has gone to school as hers is next week. what bad planning. luckily shes not only old enough to look after herself but she is going to do work experience all week so she will be busy.
with all this scandal about horse meat im glad that i make everything myself. all my "ready meals" are basically left overs made by me.
    have a good day everyone

I woke with a terrible headache this morning , very unusual for me , definitely tension , had a stressful weekend and I must have spent all night clenching my teeth , hence the headache. Much better now though :)

It must be awful to be constantly plagued by them x

Been at work this morning , we had 3 inches of snow but thankfully OH got the car out and drove me , finished now at home with a cuppa, the WM is doing its thing and OH has tidied and hoovered

Not sure what's for tea need to check the freezer

    Enjoy your day everyone xx
