O/s Daily Friday 15th February

O/S Daily Friday 15th February This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all:j:j

    Chilly here but dry.

Not much on here again today. Some tidying to do, These always tidying to do!

I need to go and buy some chicken layers pellets for the hens.
And I might pop to the local butcher to see if they have any good offers on. Sometimes they do, We had a nice half leg of Lamb off them a few months ago as a treat. It cost £6.20, Which for what we got at local prices was a good price.
We not buy lamb very often as the cost is so high. But sometimes we do treat yourself's.
I don't think its good that you contently take to making the penny's go as far as they can.
Sometimes for your own well being you have to have a treat. Something that you enjoy, For Us Lamb is one of these things.

The Girls break up from school today. Half team already.
Next week for them it will be a mix of Going off to see there grand parents and being taken out for the day by my wife and I. my has a couple for days off work, So we are hoping to take them out somewhere nice.

Well I hope that you all have a great day,

    Enjoy :j:j

I've had my contracted hours altered with no notice, bloody inconvenient, but the author of this & many other small spiteful acts is looking for another job, so fingers crossed she gets one soon!
And it's half term next week, woo hoo, a week of housework, crochet & grandchildren, my I idea of heaven. well, maybe not the housework, lol.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dry, dull and cloudy here this morning - there's no frost so shouldn't be too cold.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Wasn't very productive yesterday - popped out to SM early as needed to get wine to complete the menu for the valentines day meal - the meal cooked beautifully. Also visited the local butcher at the new farm shop - they are doing a meat deal at the moment - for £20 I got - stewing beef, chicken breasts, small pork loin joint, pork chops, sausages x 3 of 1lb (should have had minced beef but we don't eat it so I asked them to substitute it and I had extra sausages) - have got it all in the freezer, butcher has said he knows we will taste the difference and I have to say I have had meat from him before and it's always lovely. He was also saying in the last 2-3 weeks they've been so busy they are struggling to keep up with the demand - it seems people are really not happy with what's happening in the food industry and so much for the food standards agency making sure our food is safe and is what it says it is! Although obviously his prices look higher if you compare them to SM's - he was actually better value than the premium ranges - but of course we don't tend to look that closely under normal circumstances. Food for thought (pardon the pun!)

Did manage to take the boys to mum and dad's for an hour yesterday and did get all but 1 load of washing washed and dried - will continue with this today.

Today I will be trying to catch up on what I didn't get done yesterday - but will be heading to town and the bank shortly, need to purchase bday card and prezzie for my bro - they are coming over to mum's tomorrow and we're gathering for a dinner there tomorrow night so can take his prezzie and it will save me postage as I'm not likely to see him before. I have hair and nails appointment later today too - so will need to get cracking with the jobs - I should be able to get the ironing done if nothing else. I will try to run the hoover over too.

Have a great Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning everyone :)

It's a beautiful day here and it's the last day of DH's half term so we are going to try and get out and about somewhere.

Decluttering has made another 5 hugs bags for Oxfam and am hoping to double this for them tomorrow. I am determined that this room will eventually have a book nook. I keep taking a sneaky peek at the lovely photos and imagining it there.

No idea what's for dinner so will go and get a freezer lucky dip out for later. Aldi had a great offer on lamb mince so the freezer is full of that and other recent bargains.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all,

Bright and beautiful day here, got the wm on the go and will get it on the line today.

Mum came and took dd's curtains up yesterday, it was nice spending some time with her, I went and saw dad while she was sewing, then came home and had lunch together., the curtains look much better now they are not dragging on the floor.

I have a doc's appointment this morning, so had better get a shift on.

Hester I hope your back is better soon, btw I have just finished a book where the villian involved was called Hester :rotfl:

    Hugs to Rosy xxxx

    Have good days all xx

    Good morning halight and all,

had a delightful evening last night with my daughter. I'd bought her something for the baby and asked my husbands sister if she would like to come with me as she has said a few times she would love to go and see her but didnt know where she lived. I thought it would be the perfect oportunity to show her. Of course i'd asked my daughter first if it was ok to ask her as i know she gets tired after being at work all day and didnt want to put any pressure on her.

I'm struggling with painful joints today. I keep saying it but i need to get some batteries for my BP thingy as i'm not sure whether the swelling is down to high BP or whether its down to my medication.

*Reminder to self to look after myself better*.

I must admit i'm feeling old and decrepid today.:(

On the positive ..... I'm sure theres a positive ..... hmm, i'll have to get back to you on that....

    Jobs for today:

    [STRIKE]Vacuum upstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Vacuum downstairs[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Kitchen floor[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Tea - Steak as i planned to cook it last night but we ended up having chicken
    instead (dont ask!)[/STRIKE]

Weather bright and sunny, girls have been out but ran back in quite quickly so i guess it must still be cold. I havent ventured out there myself yet.

Have a lovely weekend all and take advantage of the sun if you have any as we dont see it often.

    Morning all,

Nice and fresh here. The temperature seems to be rising and feels a little warmer. Roll on spring.
A busy day today. Dh has a couple of jobs this morning and then we shall do our usual weekly Aldi shop. Also have some supplies to pick up for my new business idea which is exciting.
We have never been so aware of every penny we spend and where it goes. I like the feeling of control.:D
A busy weekend planned. Tomorrow will be mostly cleaning and we are going to change our bedroom around, feel like a change and as we can't afford anything new they say a change is as good as a rest.
In the evening we are out for a meal with our friends to celebrate my birthday next week. Cheap and cheerful but really looking forward to it.
Sunday my DD is visiting and planning Sausage and mash at DGS request. We are going to pop to Ikea as she doesn't drive it means I can pick everything up for her in the car and drop everything home for her later in the day.
Phew I feel tired just looking at all that lot. Have a Good Friday whatever your up to J x
